Hi,
My name is Mike and i have been lurking around this forum for a while.I started making knives in mid Nov of 2004 after a heart attack in Oct. Needed a way to unwind.I have a 6" bench grinder,a 4X36 Sears bench sander,a bench top drill press, and a clay fire pit with a blower. I posted some pics of some of my knives on the "other forum" :) . Idid not know i courld post pics here until last week. Here's one i delivered to a customer today.
Your comments are welcome, positive or not so.

Mike,
Welcome to the forums. That is a very fine looking knife and sheath (really like that border work), Congrats on a well done package.
Regards,
Greg

hey pretty good knife.. good plunge line. do you hand sand your handles? nice sheath. make some more
ps you have an almost the same set up as me

Howdy There....!
Nice looking blade, looks like you are catching on to knifemaking. My wife is from the Shelby area, nice country up there. Be sure to contact Andrew McClurkin and see about joining the NC Knifemaker Guild if you haven't already done so, they are a great bunch of folks and they will teach you anything you want to know about knifemaking. Good luck and keep up the good work. I also had a heart attack and that is how I got into knifemaking.

No way. Only making since November! Wow. That's a great knife.

I hope the 'theapy' is working and you're all unwound. Because, it looks like you're hooked on knife making.

Thanks for the kind words. The handle was hand sanded to 600 and then 4/0 steel wool. The cherry was stained with burnt sienna artest oil paint, rubbed in and let stand for 1hr, then wipped with a dry rag. Tung oil was applied in 8 thin coats, lightly rubbed with 4/0 steel wool between coats.

Mike
