Hello All,

Just wanted to say a quick hi to everyone in this discussion group. I've been collecting knives for about 5 years now and just finally stumbled across this web site! Just to give you a little background of my current "knife" likes here's a few knives I currently have.

In my pocket right now==>Spyderco Co-pilot (Used as a money clip and EDC)

Most recent purchase==>Emerson CQC7A

Most prized knife==>A Chinese Army knife that has a built in pylon for mountain climbing.
Best regards. -Rick

And, BTW, beware of a certain (creten) toothy rodent type critter that frequents these boards.

Welcome aboard! Now get ready for the ride of your life. You will see so many new things it ain't even funny. Just hold on to your wallet and the plastic or you'll find yourself knee deep in knives!

Come to think of it, that might not be a bad thing!

Hi Rick. You'll love this place, as long as you have a thick skin and like to laugh.

After awhile, you'll probably lurk or visit at every forum here.

And the experience will enrich your life!
And the experience will impoverish your life!

(Knowledge and money wise, respectively.)

Welcome to the Forums, rickf. As has been stated, there is an amazing variety of topics about which you may read and participate in.

Some individuals have so much insight and knowledge about knives that it is very hard not to learn constantly.

I'd like to suggest the top 4 forums in the General category. All have much to offer. Shop talk is particularly interesting because most of the posts are from knifemakers, often fairly new, but some from some of the top makers in the business.

Use the search function. Both this and the Review forum were recently archived. So, the bulk of the "good stuff" is to be found there. If you have specific questions about a particular knife, doing a search in the review forum can provide lots of info much more quickly than waiting to see how many people respond.

One word of warning. Should you ever post asking advice as to which knife to buy, even if you state you have a $30 price limit, expect to receive at least one post suggesting the Sebenza -- also effectively known as the gray turd. At least 40% of the responses you receive, even if you specify the choices you're considering, will be suggestions of different knives.

Most of all, enhoy! Don't feel bad if you're called a FNG. Everyone was once.
