I know this has probably been beaten to death but am I correct to say that the only knives you can order are the ones currently on line.

I am looking for a Survival/large blade knife and a combat type knife.

Any information would be appreciatted

From the site, yeah, as far as I know those are the only ones you can get directly from Busse. But you might want to e-mail Amy to see if they have a coupe BWMs or KZ IIs that are left due to order cancellations.

But for large knives, there is always the exchange here.

Welcome to the Exchange friend - where all of your dreams will come true, and those you haven't thought about too ;)

Welcome to BladeForums! (yeah I know you've been lurking for two years, and we are honored that your first post is here :D )

Large survival knife. Your best deal would be a Bushwacker Mistress. they just came off the order page not long ago, and show up on the Exchange pretty regularly. If you don't mind buying a user, and are patient, you should be able to score a good deal.

Combat type knife. Whew, many choices here. SARSquatch and SFNO come to mind first, but almost any Busse in the 6 - 8" range might qualify.

Direct from bussecombat.com or bussecomapnystore.com

Other than that,

on the exchange here, and no ebay.

before you even think about ebay, for the love of all things holy, learn a bit about the prices by spending some real lurking time on the exchange here.

Otherwise, you might buy one off of Ebay that is "super rare, one of a kind, almost never see them" for about 3 times the going rate on here.

There are great deals occasionally on Ebay, and frequently, just regular prices.

But a lot keep knives continually listed at 3x the going price.

Well thanks to all that have replied. I am a person that believes in buying the best and waiting for it. Buy quality once instead of buying crap 3 or 4 times. I keep coming back to Busse Combat thanks again

I know the EE is my friend....:D

Mate, just ring em up and talk direct. Easiest way. They're a wonderful bunch of people who go out of their way to help. :)

Yes they do. But the cost could be much highr than for one of the stock models. You would have to discuss particulars with Garth.

Thanks for confirming :) I would like to have an idea about the pricing. For discussion purposes, let's say I'm getting a custom HOFSH. Would the price be the same if I get one from one of the ganzas versus I special order it directly from the custom shop?

I think it has to do with if they have a blank to work from or not. I vaguely remember something about $100 an inch if they make something from the ground up ( not just modifying an existing knife) and a few year wait

Thanks. Again taking the HOFSH as an example, the cost will be around $800 if I order it directly from the custom shop? And how long is a "few" years wait? 3 years? Thanks.

I think it would be $1400 ( 14in OAL) it would be more cost effective to buy on off the exchange then send it in to have it modified at that point

I think if they had the correct knife blank on hand, then it would not take as long or cost as much. But I suspect that it will still cost more than a 'Ganza or Show special knife.

Only Garth can say for sure. Best to get him on the phone.

I don't know where you live, but if it's not too far from a city with a knife show that the Busse crew attends, that's another option. The Fall Knob Creek show (near Louisville KY) is in less than two weeks, and they always bring lots of cool steel. It's quite nice to be able to hold a knife, to feel the balance as well as how the handle fits your hand before deciding if it's the right one for you. I don't know how many miles it would be worth to you, but many folks drive hundreds of miles to attend -- Dave Brown drove in from Arizona for the Spring show; that's a long haul.
