newbie here regarding maxpedition or similar bags. more of a low speed high drag kinda guy! came across a gearslinger (madela or similar) new for $70 and jumbo versapack s new for $50 so just grabbed em. planning on using gearslinger for small grab bag for emergencies and keeping the jumbo for emergency bag to stay in car and adding a fatboy for edc gear.

any of you use hese bags for similar purpose and if so pros cons to look for from experience? figured prices weren't too bad to give it a try. really like each having a place for my ccw though rarely carry off body. planning on keeping basic blades..multi..spare ammo..light and basic shtf stuff so not left without some stuff wih us if/when needed.

still keeping reg packs for planned use wih these just a suplement to always have on me (ie prefer my 870 or 686 but will always have my jframe regardless of what else)

what type of pouches or other things do ya suggest getting to make them more useful. or have i gone the wrong direction with these for what i plan them to be for?

thanks for any ideas

I have had the Monsoon for about 4 years now. It has held up great and I use it every day.

I bought the Janus accessory pouch and my Glock 26 fits in it perfectly.

I find the side pocked meant for the hydration pack is also a good place to carry a gun.
They are well made products, enjoy yours.

thanks, will look into the Janus..outta be a nice place for my 340.

at first didn't think a big difference in sizes but felt the price was ok so pulled the trigger on each. was initially concerned about the one strap for the Malaga Gearslinger but as it'll hopefully just rest in our closet and only be used to get stuff out of while in the house or to quickly get to the car in a bad deal don't plan on carrying it fully loaded very far (will rely upon my regular packs for that kinda hump). the Jumbo seems to have just enough room to hold a good bit of kit to keep in the car while not taking up a ton of room and still manageable to carry if forced to walk out. hoping the Fatboy will be noticably smaller then the Jumbo to actually edc yet still hold enough stuff routinely used during the day and enough kit to get me back either to our car or the house.

first impression didn't seem that the Malaga was much larger in carrying capacity then the Jumbo but does seem to fit quite a bit more. hoping the Fatboy is the same factor smaller then the Jumbo. figured i paid about double what i wouldve paid for a less expensive option but was happy with thr price and if it lasts 10 years that's only $2.50 more a year per bag.
