Wanted to drop in and say hi, joined several days ago and have been a little busy with work. I have been wanting a khukris for some time now, and some guys over on gunsnet.net could not say enough about HI and the quality of their blades, so I ordered a CAK on Saturday through the website store. Came over here after that to learn more, and am patiently waiting for tomorrow to see what kind of deals I might be able to snatch up.

Couple of questions, in the future what is the best way to order from HI, should I just e-mail Yangdu directly, or is the web store the best way to go?

I haven't even received my first one yet, and realize it will still be another day before Yangdu is back in town to see if a CAK is available this go around, but I am already wanting more, so how many blades from HI can I expect to buy before the craving subsides ;). Already have my eye on a karambit, a M43, and a 20" or 25" kobra, also thinking about seeing if getting some custom handmade kitchen knives for my mother might be a possibility, but that will some ways down the road.

As for me I am a commercial diver and underwater welder by trade, I live in Illinois, I have 2 main hobbies, collecting firearms and collecting knives. I am currently 25 years old and loving life. I plan on posting around here for some time to come, and buying more than a few HI knives and maybe a sword or two.

Glad you found your way to the Cantina. You'll find quite a few kindred spirits here, as well as a wealth of knowledge covering a dizzying range of topics- not just Khuks.

Welcome to the boards:)

For the best deals, look out for Yangdu's Deals of the Day. A couple times a week she might put up some blemished khuks at DEEP discounts. Generally all that is "wrong" with them is an ill-fitting scabbard, minor spots on the blade, or a missing accessory knife.
To get one of these blades you have to be QUICK. They go fast:D Once they go up, shoot Yangdu an email with your name, address, method of payment and anything else you think might be important info. Generally, she'll get back with you in a matter of a few minutes to an hour and let you know if you were the lucky shark that got the blade:)

Yeah, emailing Yangdu (whether on a DOTD or regular purchase) is always the best way to go.

How many can you expect to buy before you're satisfied? I'll let you know when I get there! I custom ordered my first, and before it got here (3 weeks), I had ordered two more. Then a Tarwar sword, then some knives, some more kukris, more swords. . .

Here's a few:

And no, that's not all of them. ;)

That tiny little knife at the bottom of the first pic looks out of place. Must only have a 3-4" blade. ;)

Welcome, illini!

Welcome aboard ... don't think the craving ever subsides, rather it becomes more refined as the first few HI offerings turn into the first dozen, then the desire to fill in the gaps in the your collection takes priority until something new and appealing is released.:D
