:confused:I own three Buck folders, a 110, and two 112's. I'm wanting to add a Buck Echolite 112 to my little collection. I'd value your opinions both pro and cons on the Buck Echolite 112. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Gene! Welcome to the Buck forum!
I have a few of the Ecolite 112's and love them. Pro's are: lighter, comfy in hand, Paperstone is very tough and durable stuff, treat them like you do your others and you'll have them for life! I have carried them in pocket and don't find them uncomfortable there.
I personally don't find anything negative about them. I have gifted a few away to friends and family and they have been pleased as well.
And welcome to Blade Forums too!

Adding always GOOD!

Subtracting BAD.

I sticks with adding brass, wood and steel but them syntetic knives works too.

You might want to avoid generation number one ecolites and buy the gen. 2 ecolites instead. An external pivot washer was added to the pivot pin of this folder to create gen. 2 and some believe that it helped smooth opening, closing and self-closing of the blade. Gen one has no such visible external silver washer at the pivot pin on both sides. Gen two has the easily seen thin silver washer at the pivot pin on both sides.

Generation One on LEFT vs Gen. Two on RIGHT:

The Ecolites are good to go IMO, I really have taken a liking to the paperstone handles, they're reasonably tough, and won't weigh you down like a conventional 110, or 112 will, they feel more substantial by a slim margin than the Bucklites, which are excellent in their own right. If it wasn't for nostalgia I'd say I'd prefer the Ecolite to the Bucklite, but the Bucklites have that certain character to them.
