I am new to this forum (hope I have this posted in the right forum). I had a tough time creating my account. I've been trying since labor day but could never receive the confirmation email. I tried switching emails with no success. All of a sudden it worked today so yeah!!! Anyhow, I am fairly new to the knife world and I am always trying to increase my knowledge and skills as much as I can and have been doing a lot of research over the past few months. This place seems like a gold mine for info, and a great place to meet fellow enthusiasts

Welcome to the forums ! And yes you can learn alot from good folks on here.
Feel free to post some pics of your knives ... it's rumored that there are a few folks that enjoy seein pictures of knives ... might just be a legend but hey ... may as well jump in.

I love camping and basically anything outdoors, but never really knew what a "quality" knife was until recently. I like anything really as long as its decent quality. I only have a few and most are fixed blades. I have an Esee Izula, Kabar figher/utility, Glock 81, Cold Steel Bushman, Battle Horse Knives Bushman, and A Gerber Paraframe (para 2 I think). Most are new and haven't seen much/any use...yet

Tried to add pics but could't figure out how?

I am new too, well I took over my dads account. He passed away recently and I have inherited his huge knife collection so I have been lurking for a month or so trying to educate myself and learn more than I ever wanted to know about knives. LOL He was active on here in 2004-2005. He then got sick with COPD and basically was homebound since. I am sorting through his vast collection of guns and knives as he was an avid hunter in the day. I am an only child and a girl but he treated me like a boy so I always went fishing and hunting with him. K

Welcome, and lurk away. But it's fun to get into the conversations too.

I know he would be so proud of you. You may not know this but there are often threads on this forum where people worry about what will happen to their knives after they die. If their kids pawn off all their knives cheap for a quick buck, that is what everyone is scared of.

What everyone wants is their kids to in inherit one or some of their knives and treasure it as "dad's knife" and then for them to atleast sell the rest for what they are worth and then enjoy the money they bring his family.

I haven't sold anything yet. I would never just pawn them. If I do sell some which I probably will, it will be to people that enjoy knives and cherish them just as he did. I only have a daughter who is 11 and she already laid claim to a Busse.

Sharptoys, your daughter was born after your father joined BF. There is a pretty active knife exchange here. I have not got involved with that as of yet. I used to have a gold membership thinking that I would start to sell things, well I didn't. Keep threatening to upgrade again. The knife pile just grows. Anyway, welcome to the forum Sharptoys and Animalinstinct.

Heyo! I'm new too. Might as well add to this post and introduce myself. I've always been fascinated by knives ever since I got my first swiss army doodad around 2nd grade or so. Lost that though and tinkered with slip joints and utility knives for a while until I fell in love with balisongs. Being illegal though that didn't go very far. A year or so ago I started looking at knives again and then found BF and was totally astonished by what a large community and a wealth of information it was and that there was so much to learn about knives. All these years I thought stainless steel was just stainless steel... thinking stuff like "VG10? what's that? is it like 440?" lol. Anyways, glad to be here. I'm on a search for a front flipper but they are quite scarce. Thanks for having me!
