I'm in quite a few forums and rule #1 has always been "introduce yourself before you start asking shit". SO, I'm Tommy, I live in NYC (not Manhattan), retired NYPD Detective, very handy, can fix about anything, and putting together an addition to my workshop to make some knives in my very little spare time. I've never made a knife, never used a forge. But I love to tinker. I'm not the guy that asks questions that I can't find with a 5 minute google search, not that lazy. I will stick to "what am I doing wrong shit" for now. Thanks

Now they tell me.
I been here for years . . . OK better late than never. Here's a little write up :
Click this Who the Hell is Bowerick Wowbagger (my Dad call's me Bow-wow Bagger he has a damaged sense of humor).
Oh and nice to meet your acquaintance Tommy  :)

PS : that first article was missing some critical detail for those who wish to fully appreciate my predicament. Best clarified by this article.

You can use a forge in an apartment, no problem. As long as it's in someone else's apartment....
