hey, im 14 and i just started throwing knives a month or two ago on a camping trip. My dad showed me the basics, with a heavy duty hunting knife. He doesnt know any more about it and i would like some help on techniques.

Fist of all, i would like to know how to throw knives from a distance, because i can only get them to stick into something every time if im 3-5 metres away.
Second, i would like to know the going price of a set of like, 3 or 4 knives. (average)

Thanks, i appreciate all your help everybody.

Welcome to the forums. A set of three custom throwers will usually cost you around $100, and about $40-$50 for knives bought individually. Of course, price depends on maker, materials, etc, so this is only a ball park figure. To me, that's a lot of money, but it's also well worth it in the long run if you enjoy throwing knives and stick with it. If you're not sure about making an investment that big (I wasn't for a long time) a lot of cheap bowies and large fixed blades work great for throwing. One of my favorite throwers is a flea market kabar next generation fighting/utility knife knock-off that cost me $9. When looking around for throwing knives, keep in mind that usually the longer and heavier the knife, the easier it is to throw. Take a look at this site for a good variety of throwing knives. This is another great site for knife throwing. As far as longer distance throwing goes, I'm the wrong man to ask about that as I rarely throw more than one and a half turns. Hopefully someone who's more knowledeable on that topic will chime in soon. Hope this helps.
