I came across an old khukri that I purchased many years ago. It is 18 in overall in lenght with a wooden handle and brass fittings stamped 1917 and the shape of a ww11 fighting blade. It is in perfect condition as well as the sheath. Can anyone tell me how much such a knife is worth? And, is there anyone out there that can resharpen and polish the blade? Thanks in advance for your help.

You ought to post some pics. Otherwise anything anyone says is barest speculation. It sounds like you have a WW1 or WW2 issue blade. What other markings does it carry? If your looking to establish collectors value DO NOT POLISH IT UP. That often destroys antique values. What it would be worth depends on the markings as well as condition.

above the cho there is the #37 above that is 1917 above that there aremany markings. The ones that are legible are I I G II. THanks for your help.

You might find this article helpful. The use of the number 37 is enough without even seeing a picture to say that the markings on your kukri are not genuine. Brass fittings and a 1917 date are also incorrect.

Sure - it's just not a collectible antique as the markings were meant to make it seem. If the blade is properly hardened and will hold an edge, it can be used for any purpose any other kukri of similar size is good for. The only way to find out is to try it. Read the safety thread first. If you like that one, wait till you try one of the Himalayan Imports khukuris - guaranteed real:thumbup:.
