I have a grand total of 20-30 knives many of which are pretty cheap. But my daily carrys are two kershaws. What are the general thoughts on this company and these knives? I carry a 1640 vapor, and a partially serrated Leek, with speed-safe.

My very first quality knife was a Kershaw Blackout I bought in 2003. I like Kershaw knives even though I no longer own any. The company itself turns out good products and with their ZT line they make some of the best knives for the money in the industry. I've had a few issues with a ZT 0560 and it took me a while to get it straightened out after the warranty department made some mix ups and didn't want to fix it right away. However, everything worked out great in the end. That kind of thing can happen to any company. Overall I'd say Kershaw is a reliable company and makes great products.

Kershaw makes good budget blades, better than CRKT, Boker, Gerber, etc. IMO. After my Kershaw Clash wears out, I'll probably be done with them because of the Spydercos I have are much easier to disassemble, reassemble, and clean, which is important to me.

SliCed, be aware that while dissembly doesn't void the warranty Spyderco does not recommend doing so. Any damage incured by disassembly won't be fixed for free if you have to send it in.

Thanks for looking out for me Silvanus. I've disassembled a few of mine a dozen times each or so, and haven't noticed any difference. I try to be as careful as I can not to strip torx screws, lose parts, etc. They seem to hold up well enough. A few of my knives I have left alone, including my PM 2 and a few others I may sell on here. I like to be able to disassemble them because they get dirty and sometimes I like to use them on food occasionally. If something does go wrong, I do realize it will be at my expense. Thanks. :)

My opinion is that Kershaw is a great company. I've owned a few Kershaws and was pleased with the quality of materials as well as how the materials were put together. Customer service is outstanding... Here's one example that comes to mind. The torsion bar on my Kershaw Kuro went out and one of the handle screws was stripped from me disassembling it about once a week to completely clean it and treat the washers. I called kershaw and let them know i needed the Torsion bar and screw. About a week later a package arrives with not one... not two... but three torsion bars, 2 complete sets of screws for the knife, AND a replacement pocket clip. I was so impressed i actually posted about it on here.

KAI makes great knives both in their budget line (Kershaw) and their high value line (Zero Tolerance). Whenever recommending someone a cheap EDC and they can't get the extra $10-15 for a RAT-1 I always tell them to go out and buy a Kershaw. I've given a couple as gifts and people love them. Although these specific people aren't really knife people so they end up losing their knives long before they wear out on them

From my opinion and experiences i give the company an A+

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I like my kershaws and this past winter I had one cleaned and serviced, new bearings ect. And then I lost it, and it was under snow for a few months, found it in spring, and it felt good as new. Good quality I think. Can anyone recommend some good knives? <- silly question I know. Haha

Yeah they have some excellent customer service. The assisted feature on one of my Kershaws started losing tension, so I asked customer service if I could buy some springs or something like that - and they sent me a couple of springs, free of charge, all the way to Norway.

Kershaw is a good brand.

I don't own any but have posted here recently how impressed I am with the Leek composite blade knife which I've had a chance to play with recently. Only A/O I'd own--smooth, fun and not a lot of kickback when closing the blade which is what I hate so much about A/O's.

I've got a coupe of ZTs and my wife has a Scallion - I like all three. They've got some nice designs, and they can't have as many fans as they do if they're selling junk. They are selling some knives now with 3Cr13 blades, and advertising them as just "Stainless Steel" blades, so that's something to check on if you're worried about that.
