I am brand new here and found this place because I have ended up with a Buck knife and I can't date it ( or pin down a version and variation number). Maybe it has been modified? I have checked the data sheet and can't seem to match it up with anything. Of course I am completely unfamiliar with the terminology concering different rivets etc. The main issue is that there is only one stainless steel rivet in the handle. Maybe the stag is replacement? There is no indication when I look inside where the blade rests when closed that there are any rivets coming through. I am not sure if they would come through or not anyway. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking. I would also like to find a period sheath if anyone could point me in the right direction. I think I am going to like it on this forum and collecting knives takes up a lot less space than my last hobby...collecting guitars.

NICE 110 three!

I think that blade stamp is from around 1968-1971.

PS, Welcome to Bladeforums!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't seen many re-scaled 110's that old, but at a WAG I'd say an after-market re-scale. Buck usually gets the OAL of the scales closer than the manglers (of which I am one :D ) who re-scale them. The stag has yellowed nicely; I like that. :)

I'd have to agree that the handle was most likely put on by someone else. Something about the fit and the rocker rivet just does not look right. Buck did not have a stag 110 in the line back then but it is entirely possible that some, maybe a handful, could have been requested and made.
