I am new to knife making and to Bladeforums and just getting started. I just picked up a Delta 31-730 Sander with stand in mint condition for free. It is a 6X48 but has a 1.5 hp 3750 tefc motor and built like a tank. I am already tired of my 1x42 sander and was wondering if any one had any info on this machine? Can it handle knife grinding? Would it be worth modifying into a 2x72? I am handy at making things but often impatient. I was ready to tear it apart tonight and make my own grinder and thought I would join this community of people and see what you had to say first. This is my first post on any forum of any kind so I apologize if I have done something incorrect. Thanks in advance.
