I have noticed that the main blades on the newest Case Congress knives have a funny shape to me. Instead of a traditional Sheepsfoot shape they are narrow near the kick and it just looks awkward. This has kept me from getting one. Anyone else notice this?

Can you be more specific Dave. Which patterns are you talking about - 88, 52.

I personally see not difference or at least not enough to make any significant difference as to appeal, etc... Jut this morning I was looking at a Case 54052 at a vendors site and saw nothing new or odd about it.

Case continues to use the Sheepfoot and Spear blades as their main blades. Those two blades along with the coping blade and pen blade they also use as secondary blades makes for a Congress knife with a great selection of blades available for most any task. Very nice for my .02¢

The condition you speak of does exist. I am not sure when it happened but the first example is a 1976 52' and you will notice the distance from spine to edge is equal as you work out to the end. The second example is a 2001 52' and on this one you will notice the distance from spine to edge increases from the tang outward. I measured this at one time but cannot put my fingers on it right now. Also note that at some time Case got rid of the nice crisp acute angle on the coping blade and started rounding it a bit. Not terribly noticeable in these pics but very much so in hand. And depending on what you use a coping blade for this was not an improvement. I have seen both of these conditions on newer than 2001 as well.

Thats it exactly! Some Ive seen are even more pronounced. I think they are made very well I just wish they would go back to the older blade styles. Then I would have a dozen of the suckers! The older ones are pricey too!

Again not to pick on Case in general...I have dozens of Case knives ranging from old Case Tested to brand new models and I love them all!

The smaller ones are more pronounced, as is the Tuxedo. This is my medium Congress and my small Congress with a stock shot that illustrates the blade shape as on the Tuxedo:

Darn, I thought I had a pic of the Congress open :o

I actually like it, they're different from my other Congress (GEC, Schatt, Hen & Rooster)
