Newer, or counterfeit Kelly Perfect??

The M 3-1/2 stamp may indicate it's from pre-Barco days, such as around 1985 when True Temper was reportedly importing most of its hammerheads, axe heads, and other forgings.

Another twist is that it conceivably might have originated from Mann, or wherever Mann/Collins was sourcing their "M 3-1/2" axes. "The company USM was assigned the True Temper trademarks (including Kelly axe trademarks) for a number of years in the 1980s. Some axes can be found with a USM stamp, and some of these have the remnants of a Collins label, Lewistown PA, presumably made by Mann during a timespan that could include the 1980s."

That’s strange. Like Steve Tall said the M 3 1/2 has a connection to Collins and or Mann.

The current Barco catalogue shows Kelly Perfects (with bevels) in single bit Michigan and Dayton pattern. Presumably they are stamped as such. I bought a Barco-made Pulaski about 20 years ago which is so lightly etched (for all I know it was just gold paint) with an identifier that I wondered if they were ashamed of their products.
