Went to a gun show this past weekend and was almost dissapointed at the knife selection they had there. They had plenty of spydercos and Kershaws, all over the place.. but I walked around astounded I had not seen any higher end knives. After 30 minutes I find a guy that had a small booth of knives and he had a Strider SNG.. got to hold it and liked it. He wanted $475 for it... so I gave it back to him and said I wasn't even gonna counter offer with a price so high, moved on..

Finally went to another booth that had a ton of knives. There was a good selection but not many high end knives. I asked if they had any Chris Reeve knives and a guy pointed to one of the glass cases and I could barely make out the small inlaid sebenza in there. I asked the vendor if I could see it, and I found the wood to be incredible. I have never seen a sebenza with it. I asked what the wood was, and he looked at the birth card... Curly Maple.. I loved it.. and lets just say it was one of the best prices I have ever gotten for a knife. I went pretty low on the counter offer and he accepted immediately. I was lucky I found the only incredible high end knife there. They did have a lot of nice custom fixed blades.. don't get me wrong.. but I was after folders.

The pictures were taken inside with crappy conidtions.. so I hope you like them.

Billy,
Congratulations On A Nice New Family Member, You Don't See A Lot Of Curly Maple On CRK's.............

The contrasting colors of the lockbar and the rest of the handle is really attractive. I always liked how they did that on the decorative models.

Nice score! BTW, how low did he go (if you don't mind sharing, that is)? I'm wondering if the seller was even aware of what he had there!

I have been looking at a Lignum Inlaid model (21) myself, and they look very similar:

I'd really like to get something in between my very dark Cocobolo and my very light Box Elder.

More pix would be most welcomed. . . .

Great score, Incahiker! I'd love to see some pics in natural light. There's probably more detail in those inlays than can currently be seen. Kind of looks like Tamboti in your pics, but I bet it actually looks richer than that in person.

Is that a new style cord tie bar from CRK?

I had been looking at the Lignum Vitae too... I love the shade of the wood and how it compliments the gold thumblug. The Curly maple does the same, and the curly maple feels real nice too, it is grippy. I will get some pics in the sun.. but the pictures above accurately capture the wood. But then again, the sun always brings out some details you normally don't notice. Yes.. that is the new lanyard pin, it came with the knife. The knife also came with 2 leather sheaths, one that came with the knife and one signed by Chris Reeves himself.

I would like to state the price.. but if I went to re-sell (don't know why) then I wouldn't like it used against me... lol :D

Getting a great knife for a deal is like pure honey. Congratulations on the score. Personally I love curly maple. It has wave lines in it that change depending on the location of the light source. Ala..

Beautiful stuff. There is also something special about getting a Seb with an inlay that isn't available anymore, too.

Now that.. my friend... is BEAUTIFUL!! I do not believe mine has those vertical optical lines that your's have. I love the way mine looks, but man the optical stripes are incredible. I still love the shade of brown mine has though.. just what I was looking for.

I can understand that, my friend. You will enjoy it regardless.

And, yes, pix in sunlight would be great!

That is a gorgeous knife, and does look like lignum vitae.

I understand your not wanting to disclose the price, but I think that resale prices are driven by demand instead of what a person paid for an item. I recently sold a knife back to a guy for more than he originally sold it to me for - he definitely knew how much it cost me :)
