Newest addition: Benchmade Pardue Rant

Hey there Cobra281. If ya want to find out if its full tang or not? Just take an allen head that fits the end of the Rant, and turn counterclock wise. If it starts to loosen up so you can move the butt cap around? Then its an extended tang. (A inner hex bolt with screw inserts in the 1st half of the innerhandle tang hold the blade in place to the 2nd part of the tang end) In other words, it will be a two peice tang hidden inside the grip. Most, if not all Rants are made this way. I used to put custom grips on them. The blade is a N690, so you will get alot of good use out of it. (Not made to throw though) enjoy edgy

Just bought a Rant from the guy above me. Haven't had time to check it out yet, but seems capable for what it is.

as far as i can tell it looks like the blade you purchased is the 2nd generation rant...the first one was the B.I.L.T. system using the N690 steel and screw in the butt cap (the one edgy is referring to i believe). the 2nd generation is 440c and a santoprene handle with no butt cap. i've got one of those, a bowie though, not drop point, and not coated. i don't know exactly how the tang tapers down (assuming it must to some degree since handle fully covers tang) but it is a full tang blade. the newest, i guess 3rd generation, is the same design as the 2nd but using D2 steel. enjoy the blade! i like mine, haven't used it much yet but worked great for fuzz sticks and is quite comfortable. definitely a deal. was even thinking of picking up another one just like yours, to get the drop point but still with 440c, but recently got an esee-6 so will have to wait! hope that helped!

Thanks for all the info. Would have responded earlier, but lost power for 10 hours here in Lynchburg area (Crazy Thunderstorms)

Yeah, there in no butt cap, has a full rubber handle. Seems like a full tang.

I think ESEE RC 5 is going to be my next knife. Going to wait a bit though. Got 4 in the last 2 weeks:

The Rant
CS Recon Scout (SK-5)
Ontario RAT 1
Boker Magnum Blitz

Happy with all. The RAT 1 and the Blitz ... For $20 knives are great.

my pleasure, others have been very helpful to me here so happy to return the favor. i'm also bound to get a RAT 1 since i've heard great things about it...don't know much about the boker blitz. enjoy em!
