I own a few 9mm and .45 caliber pistols, a .357, and my great grandfathers .22 target S&W.....but no pocket pistol...until today. I've gotten used to carrying a gun more often this winter but wanted something more concealable for summer carry. I'd been itchin to get a .380 for some time and just couldn't make up my mind. Here's what I picked up at the gun/knife show this morning. Too rainy to go shoot it today so I figured I'd share with you Hogs.

Might as well photograph it with a SCABS. :D

Fixin to break it down and lube it up a bit.....hopefully get to shoot it tomorrow.

Great, love Sigs, they will stand up to anything but their old finishes left a lot to be desired as far as wear, but I still think they are tops.

Congrats!

I am a fan of the 1911 format. Here is the little sig next to my Springfield EMP 9mm and Norinco full size govt model .45 (best 1911 made for the money, $500-600......out shoots my friends Colt every single time).

VERY NICE! I also am a huge 1911 fan and love the Sig .380 you bought. I've fondled this model but never fired one. However, I would be willing to bet a week's pay it will run without a hiccup.

My local gun dealer told me SIG is coming out with the same format but slightly larger in 9mm. That should also be very interesting. He said the 9mm is on the SIG website (I haven't looked) but it will take a few months for him to get a copy.

Thanks. I hope you are right about it functioning without a hiccup. I didn't know Sig was gong to make a 9mm 1911. I really love my 9mm EMP....but it is just a tad to big/heavy to carry on certain occasions. Only other Sig I have is a P6 which I got for under $300 when the police trade ins came over a few years ago. It's a solid Built pistol, and a steal at that price.

Congrats. Everything I have seen from Sig has been top shelf. Haven't had chance to try the 380weekend yet but I am sure you will be pleased with it. Be sure to let us know how it handles once you have a chance to fire a few rounds through it.

Not a huge fan of 380s, but Matt that is one fine looking pistol

The thing that I really like about the 238s (besides that fact they're all metal construction) is that they have night sights and I've heard they are very accurate for a pocket gun.

But, why is there no glamour shots of the 238 with your SHBM? ;)

Very nice.
I love Sigs. The only handgun I regret selling is my P228.

At the gunshop I help out at, .380s in all flavors have really stepped up their popularity.

Sweet looking gun! I have always liked the looks and feel of Sigs.

and I know what youre sayin about a "cheaper" 1911 outshootin more expensive competition. I'd like to try out a Norinco. I went shootin with some friends last weekend and my $475 Taurus 1911 shot better than 3 Springfields. It also shoots better than my dads Kimber... Who knew

thats a GI, mil spec, loaded, and my cheapo Taurus :D

Sweet set, I love the sig and especially that Boss st;)

Heres my first Sig, but somehow the Boss talked me out of this one:rolleyes:

I do have the 232 though and a matching SJ.

Nice looking .380! My bet is that you'll do well with it on the range. Most guys in these parts are packing a Kel-Tec in their pockets. Never thought much of the looks of this slim piece, but many seem to favor it over almost anything else. They tell me Kel-Tec makes a 9mm nearly as compact. I never did warm up to the .380 idea but these days I just might give it a whirl.

A word on the Norinco .45 pistol: they have always amazed me at how well they shoot. Not sure I can explain it, but most trips to the range had the Norinco guys shooting better scores that the Glock fraternity! Go figure.

Thats a beautiful pistol for sure. I love my single action 1911s, but for a Pocket pistol, I would like to find one that is DAO like on the Para. And whats with all this overseas 1911 blasphemy, I bet your friends just can't shoot. ;) :D

Nice!

I went to a big "gun and knife" show in my area yesterday. Lots of overpriced junk - particularly in the knife category.

After the show, I drove to my local gun shop where I picked up my new Kimber RCP II. It's a beauty!

I've been eyeballing those for a while... nice lil pistols. I'm also a huge fan of the 1911.

I have owned a couple of the kel-tecs and they have always run 100%, but damn they are an ugly pistol. The Ruger LCP gets rave reviews from lots of folks too. On both, the d/a only trigger is pretty firm. It hinders accuracy, but for front pocket carry it makes me feel better given the barrel's proximity to important body parts.

Make sure you get a good pocket holster for that Sig. It has the ability to take you from Rooster to Hen very quickly. ;)

Nice Guns everybody

I like the idea of sticking with a given "format" for a pistol when going for a semi auto as a "carry" pistol ... if you carry cocked and locked then sticking to that style makes sense ... ditto if you like a Glock or a Sig P220 series where there is no safety ... so finding a small pocket pistol which works like a 1911 is a great idea ... so many of these are now of a different "breed" such as D/A only etc ... it keeps you "consistant" with muscle memory which is what you want

I have seen soldiers shooting comps where they are interchanging from the Sig P220 to the older Browning Hi-power and getting confused on the safety on the Hi-power ... or when going Hi-power to Sig looking for a safety ... and the same with Police shooters moving from a Glock to a Hi-power and not applying the safety ... the last one being the most scary ... as it is a common mistake as the drill for the Glock does'nt involve any safety engagement whereas on the Sig they at least decock the pistol so are looking for some form of safety function ... although I have seen a few soldiers press down on the Hi-power safety thinking it worked like a de-cocker and failing to put the safety on ... this usually happens when they want to try each other's pistols out but have'nt been drilled on them.
