Hold your horses, it's not official until tomorrow. ;)

Great news for wilderness and outdoors lovers, 240,000 acres of public land has been set aside for protection as the nation's newest National Monument.
Here's a brief summary including spectacular photos and information on the unique history, prehistory, geology, and ecology.

I haven't seen the final map, but here's a simple "proposed" Monument outline that includes no fewer than six mountain ranges.

I've spent time in that area of Southern New Mexico, but have never hiked in the Organ Mountains or been into the backcountry there. It's on my list for sure now.

So who's been? Who's going? Pictures or stories?
