I traded my dad a knife I made for the Poliwog and the Urban, and I traded a jamming revolver at the gun store for the Police.

The Urban turned out to be the major workhorse of the bunch when I recently moved; the Urban is a damn cardboard cutting machine.
I even had one of those moments people talk of the need for a lock in. I was cutting heavy-gauge cardboard to reinforce boxes for books, and the blade got snagged. In freeing the knife the blade started to close a tad...but the way you grip it with the forfinger in the choil prevents closure. Total safety in any regular knife task.

The serrations on the Police were awesome for perforating packing tape when taping boxes closed. It tended to bind more in the cardboard, but still did a decent job. Nod goes to the Urban though, in cutting power to blade length ratio.

Feels like a good score for me.:)

Sounds like a good score to me too:thumbup: If you want me to post the pics for you, let me know:)

I also agree on the safety of spydercos slipjoints. I had a ukpk in foliage green that i used for everything. I never felt unsafe or in danger due to the lack of a locking mech. Spyderco does them right as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the offer, but the crummy computer had a few moments of working correctly, so I got pics up now.:)
(Next thing to get is a new computer...)

must have been one heck of a knife you made for your Dad to give you the polliwog and orange urban in return! nice trade!

Don't have any experience with two of the knives, but the Poliwog is absolutely my favorite "big little" knife.

Some folks don't care for the heft, but I find it very stable in my hand, as well as providing a modicum more security for carrying (I like IWB carry).

I find myself traveling a lot along the eastern seaboard, and I don't want to have to research the laws for every state and municipality I pass. The Poliwog gives me the reassurance of a "big" knife while meeting the restrictions of even the most blade-phobic regimes.

It falls within that handful of knives that I appreciated enough to buy a back-up... :)

Nice blades, love that poliwog for crazy/cool factor and the orange urban wharncliffe is just fantastic for edc. I carry a foliage green g10 ukpk (yeah.. discontinued, unfortunately) and I have had similar experiences. My edc was a BM710 but that ukpk carries so easily, and between the choil and the halfstop, I haven't had a job where a locking blade was needed yet! seelow and stabman, glad to see I am not alone in my love of the spydie slipjoint.. Just darn good blades.. And that police, well that should be quite capable - but a bit more than the about 2 oz. weight of the ukpk and urban! Enjoy, I think you'll continue to like that urban more and more.. oh dear. I think I have a problem, I get very excited about these blades... - hayes
