Just curious what the newest frame is in the traditional family? Pretty sure something like the barlow would be the oldest but what came last? The stockman or sleeveboard? Dogleg, eureka, or perhaps the sowbelly?

Thanks
Jeff

Based on what I see happening, I think the "Lanny's clip" might vie for latest pattern. It is made by several makers now and Case is bringing a limited edition to us this year.

I remember reading not too long ago that the 3-1/2" mini-trapper is a relatively new pattern. Pretty sure it's post WWII.

Great info guys, thank you. I need to pick up Levines guide and start reading. But both of those seem like viable candidates

Remember not to confuse blade profiles with frames. You would be surprised to learn what can fit into what!

I would've thought that GEC's pattern such as the 25 would represent a new pattern? Can't recall seeing older knives like this, but, I await correction from those in the know.....

Certainly, I think that Chambriard's Le Thiers from France is a new pattern re-interpretating the Laguiole.

The Zulu is a revamping of an older Schrade pattern, right? If not the Zulu, then I would have to say the Lanny's Clip. If it wasn't for the great Great Eastern and Schatt and Morgan patterns out there, I would be carrying my Lanny's clip every day.
