My wife and I just booked a trip to Newfoundland, Canada for next summer. During the trip, I'd like to spend a day on the water with my son, catching trout, or salmon, or cod ...... whatever. The family will be camping and have a rental SUV, so we don't need lodging, fancy or otherwise -- just a kindly local who could provide rods and know-how, etc. Any tips for finding a good guide who could help my son and I slay 'em!?

You might try local guide services near your camp. Some offer widely varying levels of guidance, and many provide or rent gear.

What area will you be visiting? I live on the west coast. I spend a lot of time out around the country but don't fish myself. However if your coming to this area, I may be able to point you in the direction of someone who can help you out

I'm a licensed guide in Newfoundland, but I'm not going to be around this summer so can't help you much.

Salmon fly fishing is what you want to be doing while you're there. What part of the island are you planning to visit?

Angling regulations are here, note guide requirements for non-residents in Annex 2.
