Hey.

Long time lurker (very).
Just thought I would poke my head In and say high. Been following this forum for years, but never compelled myself to make a profile. Bought my first knife at 14. Which was a buck 112 ranger. The model name might be wrong. It is the smaller version of the 110. Tried modern style knifes. Both quality and junk ones, but always was drawn back to the feel and character of slipjoints. The only modern style knife I carry is my extremely useful Leatherman MUT. I love that thing. Hence the name.

Being from Texas, I was always drawn to the trapper. I see a trapper on more belts of ranchers, tradesman, and common city folks. Including my fellow suburbanites. Until a year and half ago I always carried a full size Case trapper. I felt as though it was to big for my pocket and set out on a epic journey of a life time that would pale the Greek epics and story's of Hemingway all from the comfort of my home. Through the praise of the members of the forum and cause I wanted to try a carbon steel.
I took the plunge and ordered a GEC #48 trapper in antique jigged bone. It was to me the best trapper ever, but I still felt I needed something. So about six months in I purchased a single blade #48 in tractor green bone. And by the power of Odin's beard it was grand. I never realized how useful just one blade could be. It stayed in my pockets for months, up until a couple weeks before I left for basic at Ft. Lost in the woods (combat engineer) I lost it. I still feel pains of guilt for losing such a treasure, but as such life went on. While in training I came home for the holidays. I know...stronger, weaker army. I still got to come home for the holidays, so yea...
I decided to look onto to some of my favorite websites to see if GEC came out with any knew #48. Looking to replace my beloved tractor green slimline. Now I had always craved to find and old Schrade half-trapper. I mean they are beautiful and reek of flexibility with that awesome saber ground clip and perfect sized pen blade. If I could every afford a custom. I wanted to recreate that exact knife. So as I am sitting on my phone in the airport. Waiting to go home and I spot this brand new Schrade half trapper on a popular knife sellers website, but just one thing. The shield says un-x-ld. At that moment I knew I had to buy that knife before one of you heathens turned it into a safe queen (no offense, but it cried to be used)! I knew I just had to have it and I couldn't wait. I next day aired it. The day I got home I took my first hot shower in months and went to bed. Don't judge. I just spent months sharing a room with 50 other young adults. Only a hour or so in. The doorbell rang. The delivery man dropped off two boxes. One from DPx knives for my brother and one containing my future holy grail knife.
While using my BHK patch knife to surgically destroy the package. I thought about if this was the knife that would become my grail knife.

IT IS!

I rushed it away to sharpen on my Dans arkansas stone, so I could torment the entire apple race from here forth.

I would apologize for the long winded post, but reading stimulates your brain. So I think I am doing a favor. ;)

Everyday after morning pt it goes straight into my left shoulder pocket with my MUT on my belt. Ready to destroy the enemies of our country. Well mainly fruit and packages. Its already in the process of gaing character threw the blades turning grey. I wish to post pictures of my holy grail and collection, but I believe I have to reach a certain post number first. Just want to say I look forward to conversing with all you great minds who have influence my taste and career. Jackknifes post about his service steered me alittle towards being a combat engineer.

So have at it and ESSAYONS.

Did my Basic at Fort Lost in the Woods too (Combat Medic). Between your multi-tool, BHK Patch Knife, and the Trapper you pretty much got all your edged needs covered. Careful reading jackknife's post, next thing you know you'll be ordering a Case Peanut, an Opinel, and fancy Sardinian knives.

Welcome to the Traditional Forum.

Nice first post! Welcome to the Traditional Forum and glad to hear you have basic training behind you. I remember mine fondly.;-)
You should be able to post images if you use Photo bucket or one of those similar sites.
Just upload your photo to the image hosting site, copy the [ IMG ] code and paste it in your BF post.

Welcome. I too enjoy the Diamond Jacks, actually the first slim trappers I ever owned. Carry the tan bone quite often and the blood red sits in the collection. Darn fine knives, something quite special with these.
