I have been a member of this forum since 2008 and I must admit, not a very active one. Which is probably a good thing for me. I get bitten by the bug, come here and search for what I think I may want at the time. I get my information from searching (any question you have, you can probably find from a search) and move on with life and my new knife.

However, in the past month or so, I've found at least one tab from any of my open browsers, on just about any of the multiple computers that I use on a daily basis, pointed to this forum. I'm not totally sure why, because I am pretty sure I don't "need" any more knives, but anyone here knows where I'm coming from.

Anyway, in the last few weeks I really started thinking about my "ultimate" knife. Sure, I love my Spyderco's, Buck's, Kershaw's, various SAK's, Ka-bar's, Mora's, one lonely Case etc... but I was trying to really look at the past 4 years and think what do I use my knives for on a regular basis and what single knife would stay in my pocket as an EDC without me thinking "If I only had.... in my pocket" and keep me satisfied (for a while anyway). So I stared looking at my habits and my day to activities and what a knife really means to me. I have always just figured a SAK is best if nothing else, my dad always carried one and he gave me my first SAK (which was my first knife) over 20 years ago and that got me hooked. But honestly they lack a bit of the look I like in a knife. A bit sterile some might say, maybe not the right word, but I never said WOW to a new model SAK. Although I do love my hunter green cadet, but I digress.

So, a few weeks ago I had my yellow Case pen knife next to me on my kitchen table after opening some mail and my 5 year old son walked up to me, saw the knife and said "Whoa, dad can I have this knife when I get older?" Of course he can and will, I told him that and then I thought, maybe I should have a few more "traditional knives" in the arsenal.

So it got me searching for my latest must have knife. I really think the 2011 GEC easy open jack bladeforum knife is everything I honestly will need on a normal Mon-Fri basis and can't wait to really but it through it's paces. I hold it, stare at it, open it and just love the two basic functions; cap-lifter, knife, it's perfect for me.

So without further ado, here is my latest acquisition, thanks to forum member comoha, and a great mod by him as well, to the cap-lifter, to really pop those tops.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to get all that out. I read somewhere it's cheaper than therapy. :D

That's a fine knife, and a fine post jhamer9! Something tells me you have many more knives/pics/stories to share. Thanks...

Thanks. Most pictures will look better with good lighting. I took this one right before the "magic hour."

Nothing beats a cold beer and a cigar. The 2011 BF knife is one I cherish too. Nice pics!

Hi Jason -

Congrats - the 2011 knife is a special one indeed - nice catch!

Thanks for the story and pics

So glad it works for you Jason! You have great taste in knives...and beer.:D

One of my favourite knives, and, since it has an opener, one of my most used :D:thumbup:

Grand pictures too-

Regards, Will

I sent mine to Humppa (Andi) in Germany as a gift. It's been 3-weeks and a no show for now. I think I'm done with overseas shipments.

Anywy, that's a great looking knife Jason. Good to see you're getting some use out of it.

ED, be patient, I've known shipments to take FIVE MONTHS...customs move in mysterious ways...

I'm confident he'll get it eventually.

Regards, Will

Thanks everyone. It's been everything I hoped it would be. I am sure humppa will love it when he eventually gets the knife. Customs can be a bear. I used to be in a position where I sent custom imaged PC's over seas all the time. You never quite know when it will get there.

I need to add a few more pics here and to the sheath sub forum, as I just finished making a slipjoint pouch for this beauty. It's not real pretty, but it's just what I wanted. :D

I really enjoyed this post. Thanks.

Here's my favorite part:

So, a few weeks ago I had my yellow Case pen knife next to me on my kitchen table after opening some mail and my 5 year old son walked up to me, saw the knife and said "Whoa, dad can I have this knife when I get older?" Of course he can and will, I told him that....

That moment might not mean much to him right now, but I look forward on his behalf to what the knife will represent to him in later years-- his father, and his father's love for him (the two don't always go together).
