Hey everyone,
Finished this piece and its sheath over the last couple days. Thought I'd share. Please excuse the poor images.
9 1/2" blade. 14 1/2" overall. The damascus is five bars of high-layer, tightly twisted Ws stacked in a Turkish twist fashion. The high layer count gives the surface a chatoyance and an almost maiden hair quality.
All of the fittings are damascus with a thin fileworked spacer of silicon bronze.
The handle is ancient Walrus ivory. My plans were to install a damascus escutcheon plate.....but the tusk already had one! Ha!
I don't have a table at Blade but I'll be busy there judging journeyman applicants, shopping, and socializing. Figured I'd drag this puppy along. I'm going to have Coop take "real" pictures of it in Atlanta. See y'all next week.
Cheers,
