Just wondering what you guys think of these two knives. Personally I would have to go for the trekker, since the 78 is way too big (the trekker is almost in that category as well).

I think it's going to come down to preference. They are basically the same knife. The Vic probably has a bit better fit and finish to it, the Wenger has the more "non-SAK" blade profile for those that want a bit more poke to their blade. It's further complicated by the fact that the Trekker now comes in a PE version.

It's a toss up:p I wouldn't feel under-tooled with either, but would probably lean more toward the Vic.

Having both, I usually keep the OHT in my pack because of the lighter weight difference. Sure, the difference is negligible, but so is the difference in the blade and saw lengths (to me, anyway). The tie breaker is the inclusion of the tweezers and toothpick.

I have a Ranger 78 and, much as I like it, it's just slightly to big in most regards. The scales are bulkier than necessary and the extra length in the blade doesn't add much. I also find the opening hole on the Trekker more comfortable.

The one big bonus to me though is the saw blade is excellent.

I agree with Gareth, I'm not too fond of the Ranger scales - too bulky and they feel "cheap". And the Vic OH is easier/more comfortable than the Wenger.
