How do I get notified when the new models are shipped to wholesalers or whatever info Spyderco can give us on when they become available? Can we have a thread in here that only Sal or other Spyderco employees can post updates to, that way I can subscribe to it and get an e-mail when there is news?

Spyderco could just post such info on the "News" section of there website. Right now the most current "Press Release" is dated August 2004 and the latest "Breaking News" is dated September 13, 2004. I really think the Spyderco.com website is being horribly underutilized as a tool for marketing the new releases as they come out.

I agree with 4 s and find better quality information, more mature input and more direct feedback from Spyderco here than at Spyderco.com. I suppose they must maintain there own fourm and did a nice upgrade recently but still seems redundant.

Actually, I think that the Spyderco spyderco forum is a lot more busy than the bladeforum spyderco forum. Also, news seem to spread a lot faster there, thanks do some veteran spydernuts with very good connections :). I visit this forum mainly for Sal's and Ed Schempp's posts.

I agree the Spyderco fourm has more traffic but most of it is what I would call, "cheerleaders" and "modifiers". The first group loves anything with the name Spyderco and use a lot of "me too", "love it" and "sign me up for that" at the drop of a hat. The second group says "can I have that in SS, or can I have that in G10" after Sal/Eric have spent months of R&D on a model. I was really surprised when I found the Spyderco forum on BF and feel the input, although less in volume is generally more balanced. Either forum is still a great source of feedback for Sal re eu preferences and product ideas. Seem to have moved away from the original thread, but the best direct information from Spyderco seems to appear here IMHO.

Yes, news does seem to travel well at the spydie.com site. Sal just mentioned yesterday that Spyderco will make a run of yellow & black frn hawkbill Salt type knife. Dunno what size (whether it will be closer to the Harpy or the Spyderhawk) but you KNOW I will have to get a few for my collection and to carry.

Guess I'm one of the cheerleaders, although on occasion I try to interject an original thought.
