This is my first time to this forum. I found it by doing a search for Ron Meekins. I had the honor of having Ron come in my knife store today. Although I was not familiar with his reputation I knew right off I was in the presence of someone special.
This may be old news to some of you but just in case, Ron has had a stroke and was severly affected on his right side. He came in walking with a cane but as soon as he saw one of my khukuris he picked it up with his left hand and showed unbelieable moves for not only a man his size, but one who has also had a stroke! He is amazing! His speech is not completely back but the light in his eyes lets you know the spirit is there.
He is coming back in next Saturday and said he would bring some of his kukris to show me. I am really looking foward to that.
He is fighting hard to come back and hopes to start instructing in the fighting art of the khurki and forging blades again.
I would appreciate any stories or information on Ron so that I might tell him others are thinking of him in his time of recovery.
