News Wootz "Kard"

Very cool Jean-Louis

I'm curious - although Wootz is not a common material, I've not seen it with a temper line before...Do you do that for aesthetic reasons or something else?

thanks for showing your beautiful work here

Beautiful knife Jean Louis.

Very attractive knife with clean lines and flow. The sculpted integral "guard" adds a nice touch of complexity and I particularly like the octagonal handle treatment. Really impressive work.

A bit more info on the blade please. Looks very nice though I'm not sure the temper lines are helping any .

What type of knife is a Kard? Is it a utility knife? It sort of looks like Gaucho knife. Or is it a fighter? It doesn't have a guard, which is steering me towards utility over combat.

from Blade's Guide to Knives.......

A kard (Persian کرد [kard] - knife) is a type of Islamic knife found in Turkey, Armenia, Persia, and all the way to India. Mostly used in the 18th century and before, it has a straight single edged blade and is usually no longer than 41 centimetres (16 in) in length. It has no guard, and usually the handle was bone, ivory, or horn. It was mostly a stabbing weapon, and commonly the point would be reinforced to penetrate chain mail.

Hello, and thank you for your comment!
"infliger": sorry I don't understand your question (I use "Goolge translate" but is no good sometimes!)
"Burl Source" is a good description for the "Kard" Thank you! :-)
The handel is not "octogone" (8 side) but hexadécagone (16 side).
