Does anyone know the current status of Newt Livesay Knives? Are they still being made? Has the backorder problems been fixed? I have a few of his knives, and they are very well made.

Newt's son-in-law Darrel Parent at Mt Sequoyah Knives mentored under Newt and makes knives that, if you like Newt's stuff, you'll likely find appealing. Lots of similarities among the knives from the two companies.... very similar-looking utilitarian designs, ruggedly-executed in equally no-nonsense materials. Darrel's work is listed at very, very affordable prices.

And they excel at customer service!! From the postings here on BFC, Darrel and Joda did an outstanding job of taking care of Newt's customers as Wicked Knives wound down. I was one of them and can't commend their efforts highly enough. They scrambled hard to procure product and get everyone's orders filled. Definitely "above and beyond" effort, especially considering that the company they were bailing out wasn't their own.

Darrel's website linked above has a page of Livesay Combat Knives available for sale. So that is a secondary source for Newt's designs. I'm not sure if those knives are made by Newt or if they are Newt's designs now being made by Mt Sequoyah Knives. I'm sure if you email Darrel he'll gladly enlighten you. :)

Thanks for the reply! I have a couple of WKC knives: the RTAK, Lil Pecker, and the 101st Airborne are my favorites.

mt sequoya knives also sells some of newts knives, one of my favorite is the air assault, handy knife to have.
