Got a few Barkies in my collection and looking to get another as I do almost every payday, lol.

Toss up for me right now between the Highland Special, Northstar, Fox River, Bravo 1 & Aurora.

I will eventually get all of them but it's next up for now.

I really like the looks of the Northstar and order all the knives I can from Knifeworks but they are showing the blade length on the Northstar to be 3.375 instead of 4.375". Is that a typo or was there more than 1 size Northstar?

I have the Woodland Special and the handle is a little tight on my hand but ok, so not too worried about handles on the above listed.

So which one of those do you prefer and if you care to elaborate as to why, that's great too.

Thanks guys!

The Northstar with the 3.375" blade sounds like the Northstar EDC. It's a smaller version of the original Northstar pattern. I have two of them and they're great everyday FBs. The full sized Northstar has a 4.25" blade, IIRC. I like the Northstar EDC for the size, the narrow blade and spear point, and the 3V blade material. I'm starting to get pretty fond of 3V as an everyday blade steel.

I would not recomend a A2 steel knife because I once had one and it was very dull and soft. I would stick with one of there 3v knifes

Hmm, well I have 4 Bark Rivers now all in A2 and mine seem to be holding good edges, sharpening up really sharp and they all cut very well. Not for sure if there was an improvement in the process or something as all of mine are less than 3 months old but I've been very pleased so far.

Maybe I got bad knife, it wasn't a bark river. maybe theres is better then what I had

Haven't had any problems with Bark River's A2. It can be made scary sharp. I do prefer their 3V over the A2, though.

I just picked up a Bark River TrailBuddy with Macasser wooden handles not long ago and love it!!!! It has very large belly on it and is great as a skinner. I also carry it as a hiking blade and it works great. Its 4inched made of A2 steel scored one for 144$

Personally I really like the Fox River Recurve, if you can still find one. I also have an Aurora in A2, which is also a great knife, though my thumb cries out for a little jimping on both of them. Maybe I’m just spoiled…

Incidentally, the Bravo-1 and Aurora are the only ones from your list that I see on the BRKT 2014 Production Schedule, which I take to mean that the others will no longer be available once current dealer stock is gone.

I would say if you find any from your list with the scales/steel/jimping/grind options you really like, grab it before it’s gone. I’m not sure what Bark River’s production numbers are for each option, but for some of the ones I own, I have never seen another one like it available anywhere.
