I have 2 x 14's (one is convexed) a 7 and a 2 (micarta). I can honestly say, as much as I love my BK 2, the BK 7 does seem to be a better all-rounder. I dislike the sheath, but that's fixable. I love the sturdiness of the BK2 and if it had been a little longer I'd not have got the 7, but I'm glad I did. I don't take them out together, as they're so close in abilities, but as mentioned, the 7 takes the lead due to that extra length.
I hike, so weight, functionality, dependability are key. I always carry a Bacho Laplander, so knives are purely added for further wood processing/splitting, not for heavy chopping.
Including the Laplander:
- A relaxing day/overnight trip is a BK 14 (as a neck-knife) and Fallkniven F1.
- A more involved short trip (shelter building etc) I swap out the F1 for BK2.
- Longer trips I add in the BK 7
I hope this helps describe how I use them and therefore their functionality.
