Looking for some input on which case pattern to buy next. So far I've got a copperlock, a chestnut cv stockman and a yeller peanut that has really grown on me! I was considering the SBJ, soddie or the slimline trapper. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I got the SBJ for anniversary this year. I love this great looking knife. The F&F is just great. Within one word, I´d recommend the SBJ. You cant go wrong with this great pattern.

The Soddie would be a great decision, too. Especially for the lower price range. A great working knife, imo.

The sodbuster is a solid working knife that will take anything thrown at it. Another plus is the ample handle for a good grip if you have work gloves on. Although it's light for it's size, I think of a sodbuster as the rough, dirty deed knife. Since you already have a yella peanut, you need a yella sodbuster to compliment it.

Think of it as big brother-little brother pair.

Carl.

I'm glad the the SBJ comes in chestnut too, it is a beautiful scale color. Heck, the soddie is cheap enough that I might just grab it and the SBJ

I actually have the SBJ in chestnut bone and it´s just great. The bone in combination with the well patinaed blade makes it to a fine knife.

A pic of mine

Maybe I got your taste :D ;)

You might also consider the Mini Trapper Wharncliffe, in Sawcut Antique Bone. It's a great pattern with the Wharnie, and the handle is usually very attractive (though it can vary a bit).

Here's mine:

The colors are a bit washed out in the pile side pic, the white area is more amber. The mark side pic is what it really looks like on both sides. It's a really good looking knife.

I have a Slimline Trapper and love it. Best fruit slicer I have ever used. It stays in my bag I take to work, since I usually take apples or oranges every day. I prefer stainless for the fruit slicing duties, just rinse it in soapy water when I get home.

It's the middle one in this pic (between a Saddlehorn and a Copperlock).

Nothing against the SBJ either, I have one of those too. Just giving you some different ideas. SBJ is a great choice if you go that way.

I don't know mate, but the slim line trapper really calls my name. Although the SBJ is a great knife too

I really like the sodbuster jr but the Swayback jack is really nice as well, it can also be had in a two blade version. I am also starting to dig the trappers and plan on picking one up soon. I don't think you can go wrong any way you choose. That didn't help you one bit did it?:) Have fun!

If you enjoy your stockman and you enjoy your peanut maybe pick something up that combines the qualities of each in an in between pattern for example a yellow cv stockman ( stockman pattern with the peanuts yeller) or the bone texas jack ( jack blade patter with bone scales and the same frame as your 63032) just a thought. I too own a chestnut med stockman and a peanut, I just picked up a yeller stockman and it is quickly becoming my favorite. Out of the options you listed as others have said the soddie is a great working knife especially the yellow cv soddie jr. Which is a great pocket size. I like the looks of the slimline but ever sence I've switched over to traditionals I prefer multiblade knives.

Case yellow slimline in cv. Big knife that carries like a peanut. Great working knife for a few bucks more than a soddie.

I love the size and shape of the trapper pattern, but the Spey blade seems frivolous. If I'm carting a multi-blade I like to have a larger blade paired with a smaller blade (like a pen or sheepsfoot). Two blades of equal length just doesn't seem to jive (if that makes any sense :D) But I'm going to give every pattern it's fair chance!

I like the look of the Texas Jack, that's also on my radar! The Yeller of the 'Nut is growing in me- a jackknife on the medium stockman frame with yeller scales would be absolutely perfect! Not sure if anything like this was ever made though..

+1 these are great and fairly easy to pick up off the bay in good used cond.

Another vote for the sodbuster! Yellow in cv is classic case, but the new bone one is really nice
