I know there are hundreds of reviews and posts about this subject and I've read / watched just about all of them. I'm trying to decide between the Esee 6 and Becker bk12(rsk-mk2). I think either will suit my needs. Both have pros and con's for me. Esee has FFG, Becker has the handle shape I like. Handle material I like the Esee, blade shape I like the Becker. :). Both cost about the same.

I'm looking to fill a gap in my knife collection. Have many folders and few fixed blades. Had thought about a esee 4 but then figured a folder could do nearly the same thing. So I am looking for a blade between 5-6 inch. If there are more suggestions please tell me. But basicly I'd like input from people who have these knives and what they use them for. Maybe a few pics to help me decide. I'm sure someone will ask what am I gonna use the knife for. Basicly anything. Thats why I'm asking you what you use them for. Thanks for your help.. It'll be my first Becker or esee knife. Can't wait!

I haven't held a Becker, but I do have the Esee Izula II, and love it. The handle is great, comfortable as anything, and the blade sharpens to a superb edge. You can't go wrong with an Esee in my opinion, but I'm sure the Beckerheads will claim the same about Beckers. Whichever you buy, I'm sure will do a great job, bring you years of happiness and feed your habit. :)

I would say you've already made your mind up about the important part.

You can have the most optimal blade geometry, the best blade steel ever, with the best heat treat ever, but if the knife isn't comfortable to use, it's going to get left in a drawer.

Go with the Becker.

Edit: There are plenty of people here who would be willing to do a set of custom scales for your Becker. Customizing production knives is practically and industry in itself.

Jump over to the Becker Knife & Tool sub-forum, and you'll see the possibilities.

Personally, I think a pair of textured orange scales would look really cool against the black coating....

I'd go with the Becker personally. I've never owned ether, but I've handled both. The scales are worlds better than the ESEE, and on a knife like that I prefer the high saber grind over the FFG.

I would also go with the Becker. I like their sheaths better on the larger fixed blades. Not a big molle person. Plus I own a number of Beckers already and I'm very accustomed to their handle shape.

I´m a big becker fan but I actually prefer my Esee 6. Its just a very good knife. The handle is comfortable and the blade will cut better than any other I´ve had at that size.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Becker BK16.

Had you picked any other becker.....I would say becker BUT
or th
If you are going to use your purchase as an actual knife not a 1lb hand axe before sheath weight......Esee-6 all the way or the BK-10 crewman(have a good look at that one)

I like both, i once had an ESEE4 but sold it to fund another knife, and now I missed it. definetely gonna buy it again later. beckers are tempting me though, the Crewman and Campanion is high on my next buy list.

i haven't handled any becker but as other have said; ESEE's handles are somewhat on the thin side but i find no hotspot while I was using mine back then.

both ESEEs and Beckers get TKC G10 when I pick one up, so the handles are never an issue for me. I own several of both brands and they are all good knives, but ESEE's factory sheaths are far nicer imo...just something to think about.

Sry for the late post.. Complications with the GF. She hates the idea of me spending $130. Then I reminded her she spent $100 this month alone on her nails. I'm thinking the doug Ritter mk2. :)
