I've recently moved from fixed blades to folders. I recently got a Griptilian (550HG), and I LOVE it. But I'd really like to try the Ritter Grip... pretty bad! But, I'd also really like to try to EDC a Sere 2000.

If I get the Ritter, and like it, I'll sell my 550HG.

If I get the Sere 2000, then I'll keep my 550HG until I get a Ritter Grip, and then sell it if I like the Ritter over it.

But what to do first?

I really really like the Axis lock, and I think it will be hard to move from it to the Sere 2000. But, if I really like the Sere 2000, I'm going to have Butch Vallotton convert it. If I don't like it converted, then I sell it and get a Sebenza.

What are your thoughts? I'm trying to avoid having a "collection", but I'd like to experiment with some different knives.

I had a Mini SERE 2000 but found that I always chose to carry an Axis Lock knife instead, so I sold it.

I have twelve Griptilians.

The SERE feels like a knife. The handle has plenty of grip and it just feels great in your hand--especially if you're doing a lot of hard cutting. That said, the blade isn't as good as the Ritter and the SERE is definately heavier in the pocket. I do like that the SERE sits lower in the pocket, but I generally find myself carrying my Ritter or some other Grip over my SERE. Really, you can't go wrong with either one. Get both.

I've had both. I sold the SERE and still carry the Ritter. IMAO, there is no better blade shape in anybody's lineup than Doug Ritter's drop point for the kinds of cutting I do everyday. Benchmade does a great job on S30V and the AXIS lock and FRN scales make the RSKs very solid, tough users.

Good choice. I got one (MK1) a couple of weeks ago and it has become my EDC knife. I've cut a few small branches on some shrubs, a plastic tie at Sam's and opened a few packages. Obviously not much use, but it appears it will work fine for what I'll ask of it

I EDC'd the Ritter Grip for 2 years. I like the blade and handle shape of the Ritter Grip better than the SERE 2k. Well, I'm moving on to trying out the Wegner Blade-Tech Pro Hunter next.

That is a very good choice I carried a prohunter for like 6 months straight and it was great. Light weight and took a killer edge. As for the OP I have had both and I preferred the ritter grip for use but preferred the looks of the SERE 2k. Either way they are both good knives but the Ritter is American made.
