So for my next knife I was thinking of a few things. I'm going to buy something in the next month especially if I don't get my H&K P30 soon.

1. ZT 300 - Buying it new and having the blade reground to not have the stupid shape. Total cost $200 for the knife then we'll see what the regrind costs.
2. Emerson CQC-8 waved - Buying it new and having Reese Weiland put a titanium frame out conversion on it. Total cost $400 Is it worth it?
3. Trying out the darn sebenza....even though I hate everything about CRK. I own a strider SMF, tried out an XM-18. Cost probably around $330-350
4. Hunt down an XM-18....realistically $400 is my budget and it's damn hard to get a XM-18 3.5" non flipper for $400.

Opinions? Looking for a new folder, like the idea of having GOOD folders customized to be even better. Prefer a knife that is backed by a SOLID warranty.

I think that out of that lot, you can't do better than the Sebenza. IMHO

See I dunno I'm torn I hear "sebenza" more than anything but their warranty just angers me....everything is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Also I've held the XM-18 and I literally cannot fathom the idea of a knife better than it...it's like it was shaped to MY HANDS.

Bill I think both modifications to the 300 and Emerson you suggested will void your warranty. Sounds like you ought to wait till October for the ZT0551 to me and pass on these others. I believe that knife is going to be perfect for you.

One of the side benefits of the ZT0551 is going to be on the 2ndary market for the Hinderer XM-18. The ZT should take some of the pressure off the XM-18 so we may see some price drops. One can only hope that actually happens. :)

I agree with you on the xm-18. Not sure I own a more comfortable knife. Next I will be getting a Strider like you have. Can not compare the two yet, but I do not think you can go wrong with an xm-18 if you can find it.

Yeah problem is it's HARD AS HECK to get one at the $400 they SHOULD cost.

I would try the Sebenza if you are dead set on a production knife. I don't believe you will find a Hinderer for $400 unless you want a heavily used knife. They sell for $375 direct and ALWAYS at a premium aftermarket.

Otherwise, I would just fight the urge until $800 is your budget. That should open up a world of possibilities for buying a knife with the features that you want directly from the maker.
