So I'm deciding between the manix 2 and the manix 2 xl. I currently own a para 2 and love the size and feel. My only concern with getting the xl is that it may be too big in pocket and in hand. But I don't want to get the 2 and it be too small. Unfortunately I can't handle it in person. I'm relying on you guys to help me decide. Id be glad to hear any comments and suggestions.
Thanks

Looking into the manix 2 as well unfortunately I haven't felt any either. My geuss is that if you get the smaller one your going to go with the G10 model? I don't care for the FRCP.

I have owned a Manix 2 XL and loved it but I ultimately sold it and if I do come back to a Manix it will be the regular size one with the hollow grind. I have had dilemmas like this several times and I think you should buy both from a nice store like BladeHQ or Knifecenter, compare them side by side for an hour or so do a pros/cons list and return the one you don't like the next day for a full refund

Probably the ONLY way to be confident of your choice.

I have the Manix 2 and PM. About the same size but the blade on the Manix is wider. I like the Manix but never carry it due to the way it fits in my pocket. PM fits much better in "my" pocket.
I have not handled the Manix XL but would assume it would be bigger.

Love the xl. The pm2 always felt small for me. I feel confident the xl could handle just about any task id come across

If you are looking for a big knife that carries small in the pocket you can't go wrong with the Spyderco Military.
Worth a look, the only downside is that it is tip down carry only. If you can get past that fact it is a perfect
big knife in my opinion.

Another thing you should consider is that for some apparent reason my Manix2 XL would NOT take a hair shaving edge, I asked about it here on BF and some people told me they had the same issue with freehand sharpening.

They are both a little big for front pocket carry IMO so you might as well go with the xl. :). I prefer the ergonomics of the xl.

I have a Manix 2 lightweight that came with the worst edge from the factory that I have ever seen on a spyderco. I was able to get it hair shaving sharp but it took a lot of work on my part. In all fairness to the knife I am horrible at sharpening.

Interesting. I owned a manix 2 LW in bd-1 and I found I could put a screaming sharp, hair whittling edge on that steel with very little effort. I had some issues with the steel (edge retention was decent but not great) but ease of sharpening was definitely not one of them.

It honestly came as if they messed up the bevel and just said "screw it" we are not gonna sharpen this at all. I had so much work to do and my sharp maker's medium grit was not cutting it. I ordered a set of the diamond sticks for the sharp maker and that is when I was finally able to get the edge right. Have been pretty happy since, but it gets little pocket time. Been in love with my SB Delica since it arrived. Can't put that thing down!

LOL, keep in mind I am a self taught sharpener. Trial and a "lot" of error if you know what I mean!

I found the regular manix to be too big for me. I always carry a paramilitary 2 and am used to that. I think you would think a manix XL would be to big

You can't go wrong with a Manix, in any variety:

The XL is a beast, I don't carry it during warmer months, that's when the lightweight comes with me.

I have always been a pm2fan.Great size for my edc needs. But i recently got a ffg manix2 with g10 and I m enjoying the ergonomics of this knife. It feels like it would make a solid work knife. I have no trouble with the size.. I have a manix 2 xl which feels great in hand, but it is a little too large too carry every day. I feel the manix 2 is the most usable for me.

The Manix 2 XL is big. It's big in the pocket too. I don't carry it in an urban environment. I have a deep carry clip as well
