After much introspection and soul searching, I have determined I'd like to order another Sebenza. It just seems crucial... or something. My collection is currently two, but they're both users: a plain Large 21 and a Large Micarta Insingo.

I've narrowed it down to three possibilities: a plain Large Insingo with dual silver lugs, a Large 21 with Ladder Damascus, or a Large Snakewood with a ladder Damascus blade and dual silver lugs.

The price difference between them is one factor but there is also a significant wait for the Damascus. My other concern is that a Damascus might end up being a safe queen and for the price, that seems to be a shame. The Large Insingo would definitely get the most use.

Anyway, just curious what you would choose.

Easy pick for me, I'd go with: Large Snakewood with a ladder Damascus blade and dual silver lugs.
Mainly for the agony factor of having to wait and then, once it arrives, the extra agony of whether to use it or not :D :p

It is a simple and well respected fact that the Insingo is the best Sebenza, so I'd go with that.

:D

Since you appear to want to use your CRKs and not stick the new one in a safe, and given that the Insingo offers a different blade profile for you to use, maybe it is worth trying next. It'll feel different, whereas the other two will only look different.

That's the way I'm leaning but my other silly concern is not liking the Snakewood pattern I get. Silly, I know, but for the price, I'd like get a great, dark pattern.

The Insingo I have is great and I really enjoy using it. The only reason I hold back on ordering another is that it's so similar to the ones I have. That said, can't have too many users.

You don't help us. ;)

I'm doing my best to be as difficult as possible. :D

I've read through the "Damascus EDC" threads and would be comfortable using the Damascus and I've always wanted a Snakewood Sebenza, so I'll probably end up doing that and waiting a year for it.

Ack sorry, I misread that you already have an Insingo as a standard micarta 21. I would go with one of the others. You can always get a dual lug on your current one if you want.

Snag one off the exchange. I check it a few times a day and find some amazing folders, including CRK's like you're discussing. I check back a couple hours later and they're gone. :)

I know that feeling. I tend to miss them by minutes or while I'm trying to make up my big fat mind, they're gone.

I know it's not what you asked but I wouldn't get any of those knives. 2 of them are likely to end up safe queens and the third is too similar to the insigno you have.

I would get an Umnumzaan! It's a pure user and you said you wanted a user, plus it brings something new and different to your EDC options. Also you said price was a consideration, the Umnumzaan is cheaper than the Damascus sebbies.

I have a Large plain, a large Micarta, plus a large Micarta Insigno coming this week. I dig the user idea and just let go of a graphic Seb for that reason.

My suggestion is actually something I want next aswell. Large plain titanium handle with Damascus blade.

I think it'll make for a great user and from what I've read Damascus can most definitely be edc'd:thumbup:

I actually had an Umnumzaan for a little while and really liked it. For whatever reason, it ended up gathering dust, so I sold it off. You're right though, it is a fantastic knife.

you have a 21 and an insingo, go for the damascus. there should be authorized dealers that have some in stock. and since you're in the east coast, why not go to Blade, and get a damascus straight from Mr. Reeve?

I wish I could make it to Blade. I think I may go with the Snakewood and Ladder Damascus blade.
