OK, I've got an E1, E1e, E2, E2e, G2 and my A2 just arrived today.

I've also got an X5, X5 tactical, 2 Brinkman Legends, and several other misc flashlights.

I'm pretty much covered for small, personal carry sort of lights.

I keep eyeballing the 3-cell Surefires though. Not entirely sure what I need one for, and I'm thoroughly confused at all the options.

Which one fits the bill as "fun to play with"??

Mike

I think SF is phasing out most of the three cell lights (9P-again, D3) and just keeping the M-3 and M-3T. Most would probably recommend the M-3T...

Apparently the 9P with the turbo head is pretty cool.

I'm hoping to pick one up (well, an A19 and turbo head from Tim Flanagan when he answers his mail -Hey, Tim! Check your mail )

How about a G2Z? It'll be a great introduction to the benefits of the combat grip. Or you can get the KL4 (when it is released) for your E2s. Or how about skipping the M3 and heading straight for an M6?

So many choices. :D

Oh yeah, it's been posted on CPF that most Surefire's will become available in HA3 black, with the E2e being first. You could get HA3 black versions of all your lights.

:p

I have a D3. It's nice: slim, light in weight and bright. I have to admit, though, that I'm casted lustful eyes on the M4 and (dare I say it?) the M6. Years ago, the idea of spending $300+ on a knife would have seemed absurd, let alone spending the same amount on a flashlight. Now, many Sebenzas down the road, the idea of a $300 flashlight is becoming more appealing.

Michael, how does the A2 (in LED mode) compare to the X5-T, as far as brightness is concerned ?

The X5 looks a lot brighter to me. And for some reason it's rated to last longer...? 20hrs -vs- 15hrs for the Surefire.

Could be in the way they rate them though.

I still don't "get" why the A2 is so expensive, but it does do exactly what I want.

Mike

Thanks :D . Is it because of the amount of LED's or are the Inova's brighter.

I use an M2 and X5-T together and love how the X5 gets a few hours out of batteries that won't even power the surfire  . When I'm at work this combo isn't so good. The M2 blinds anyone I'm working with (and sometimes me :) ) and the X5 either doesn't have the "reach" or is more than enough for the close-up stuff. The A2 sounds like an excellent EDC light for me, from your description alone .

Sorry for the high-jack :( . Back to the original topic.

I keep getting a bug to buy a larger SureFire (my knife purchases always cure it though :) ). When I do, I'm going to go for the M4 or M6. The main reason being; the OCD in me says, I have to have an even amount of batteries at all times :D .

Buy a 9P.

3 batteries. Burn 'em down in your ARC LS (1 Battery) and your KL1 (two batteries)

Product Line overlap. In the three cell range, you still have the C3, M3, and M3T. 9P, D3, Z3 were all redundant really.

The next would be the KL4 and the Z57 clickie. For the 3-cell, I recommand the M3.:)

Picked up an M3 at the Sportsman and Arms expo today.

That's Shelby Chan's photo.
It was my understanding that this is the current M3. Please can you enlighten me as to the latest model of the M3?

Thanks!

Al

Edit (read post fully before jumping in! :footinmou )

I've just looked at the photo link in the post.
The E1e-HA and E2e-HA are not the latest models (which feature the new bezel with scalloped rim)
The A2 is the latest model with new TailCap (you can tell because the knurling does not have a thin band/channel on either side of it)
The M3 is an old version (the bezel design has changed to the one in Shelby's photo with it's anti-roll hex and cooling fins)

Ah, I suspected I had an "Old Model" M3 -- but it was NIB, with an additional 2 Energizer 123A's (NIB), and a NIB 2xAAA Mini-Mag for $150 -- so the M3 was more like $135.

Mike

You can order the current bezel if you like. It may not be worth your while though.

Mike, my advice is wait for the KL6 first. You may be so hooked with it that you don't want the bulb anymore. ;)

Any clue if the C3 is going to be "phased out" as well?

Is there any truth to this rumor?

Regardless of whether SureFires phases out the C3, it and all the SureFires that have been discontinued will continue to be supported by SureFire (Lamp Assemblies etc)
