Next time should I...

Got so caught up in gettin a GW last night that when I got one in the cart I didn't want to back up and lose the one I had. This all happened beyond the initial melay, after 10 pm.

Basically, is it better to "add to cart" and get another if you can, and add a sheath and what nots, or "buy one now"? I hit "buy one" and couldn't get another or I would have. I had another chance later but was already checked out. I got hung up on having to pay shipping on two knives and didn't get it.

If I had added my first to the cart and tried for another how long could I have left it in there before it got dumped automatically. I can't remember exactly how that works with Skunk's new system.

Nevertheless, last night I just hit buy one when I saw one and went straight through checkout. I'd have bought a sheath and a few lanyards, but I was too jumpy over the snag and just checked out.

Next time I should......................................?

I get too excited each time also and always forget about the lanyards and tags....they need an option on the check out screen to "Buy Lanyard or Hog Tag" feature! I can't justify the shipping to order just the extras without buying a blade.

i always just add to cart, and go back and forth checking for anything else i want. i have never had my basket nuked, either

I placed two orders last night, so this morning I email the store and asked if I could combine them. Vicki responded super quick and also issued a refund on one shipping charge. Mrs. Skunk ROCKS

I always hit "buy one now" because I have decided beforehand how many I want. (Usually only one). That way it leaves the rest available for others who want the same. Yea, every time I forget the dog tag in the mad rush to get a knife available for mere seconds. I decided a long time ago (at the start of the Warden era) to not play the game and the only time I check the company store is when I log on and just before I log off. I got lucky enough to get what I need :D (Snakeskin LE, custom Bad Warden, Skeleton Warden) and missed out on what I really want SMOG Wardens. :grumpy:

I usually try to buy until there are no more.

Then I let out a little piglet burp and go about my business. :D

I added a sheath to my cart and then when a knife popped up hit the buy it now and they both showed up in checkout.

I had to go back every 15 min or so to readd the sheath as my cart was emptied.

Oh so YOU were the sheath-horder. LOL ;)

ADD TO CART is the best way. After Tigerhide, I'll trade in my secret that many piglets don't know to avoid the F5 nightmare. :)

we have the shopping cart set to time out at 15 minutes.

here is what it says:

"Basket Timeout (Minutes)

Defines the time a shopper's basket can be left without any action (additions, removals, changes of quantity) before it expires. The default is 60minutes. You can set any limit up to 1440 minutes (24 hours).

Just like in a brick–and–mortar store items that are in shopping baskets are removed from your inventory. Sometimes customers will change their minds or something comes up and they leave their baskets without checking out. If enough products accumulate in abandoned baskets it can appear that your store has run out of them.

When the basket expires at the time limit you set, the items in the basket are returned to inventory.

To determine the right time limit for your store consider the impact on your inventory levels of having items left in abandoned baskets and the potential for your customers to be interrupted (by a phone call, for instance). You want to avoid appearing to be out of items that are simply tied up in forgotten baskets and avoid frustrating shoppers by dumping their baskets while they are still browsing in your store.

Expired baskets should be deleted regularly, to clear the order numbers from the database.

Makes total sense Skunk. It worked for me the other night, cuz I missed out on round one. It seems fair.

Could you PM it to me (I could use any help I could get)? I used my history page to create a loop cuz f5ing brought up a box that I had to hit ok to close.

There's been so many threads to follow in the last two days, I haven't kept up, and I've missed the hint about the tigers. Those are a go this weekend, supposedly?

Skunk I wasn't complaining, I think 15 mins is more than plenty of time. maby even make it less.
I did notice something when ever I added a sheath to the basket, it always added 2. It didn't do this on any of the dogtags I added. I just changed it to 1 and updated but there may be a problem with the add to cart button on the sheaths.

no problem, i know you weren't bitching, as far as the sheaths go maybe it's remembering your cart somehow. i know when vicki was testing the new software i asked her to buy a tag and her cart had a hat and a sheath in it from a previous test. she removed them and they never showed up again.

i really think a guy can log on when the store opens and add the knife he wants them buy any tags etc. if the knife isn't there then shop for your hat, scabbard etc and refresh for the knife, add it and hit check out.
