What's considered a good price on these now that they are discontinued? (gray handles, nothing fancy)

I bought one of mine for $40 it was NIB, but have seen them from the same area around $100. It is mainly what you are willing to pay for one. I have two and if I ran across one for $50 or less I would get it. Best of luck to you, it is a great knife to have.

Might also depend if it is one of the older thick ones with the vertical walls, or a thinner newer one with the sloped walls.. I like the older ones best

Thats walls in the holes.

Oh yeah!! Welcome to the Buck Forum!!!

and another oh yeah....good price depends on if you are buying or selling.. :)

Holes??? I recall Mike Kerins commenting on the edge chamfer [stepped vs beveled] but nothing on the holes (indentations in the metal)... :confused:

I have two 560's, both purchased from members here...IIRC, they both ran ~$75...One is gray brushed finish BG-42 "Custom"; the other is gold speckled [no brushed finish] 560 "n"...Both have the beveled edges...Neither had boxes/papers/etc...

As for thickness...Overall thickness at front bolster -

Gray = .450"
Gold = .465"

I find that interesting... :)

I agree with JohnWayneSandW and Mickey Rat. $40-100 (several variations).

And don't forget the ones with the titanium blade ;) ;)

*You've* got the only Titanium bladed 560... :p

Show me your Damascus bladed gray brushed finish Titanium scale/bolstered 560...*That* is a great looking combination... :):thumbup:

You mean the one where the holes in the scales are inset wth MOP and abalone? :D

Geez Trax, I thought shirley you had one of the older ones that is right at a full half inch thick with the edge offset and vertical hole walls instead of the beveled hole walls. I think those go back to 92 or 93 time frame.

We did all those pics here once up on a time. I gotta get me one of those digital gizmo scale thingies like yours.

I have a 1992 model that is still nib with the original price sticker on it of $79.99 and the sales slip where someone bought it and paid 83.99 (tax) for it. Was purchased in Boston 7/30 /93

Thats an antique itself. Cool... For some reason I thought you were using a digital one. I need one that tells me all the numbers. Old age and all, yanoow...:o

Thanks for the welcome aboard....I have become quite a Buck fan of late! I will check out the price this weekend at the hardware store...just wanted to get an idea of what is reasonable! ;) Thanks again!

Edison, Buck quit making the 560 somewhere around 02 or 03, maybe earlier. There could be some laying around a hardware store, but I doubt it.

Most of them show up on ebay or someone here on the forum might have one they will let go of.

It's been there a while....but I did miss out on some nice Buck toothpicks b/c I hesitated :o....he stocks a number of knives that don't seem to be moving b/c the prices are too high
