Just bought a NIB Old Timer 1940T--at a small gun/boat shop out in the sticks---probably paid too much($27.95) but it wasn't much and I knew they didn't make them anymore.

It came in a brown box with a white slider cover and blue "velvet" holder--it has the paper insert the plastic bag and still has the "locking blade" sticker on the handle---its absolutely brand new---just old.

Any idea how old this is?

And should I keep it new?? Or is there no collector value and just go ahead and use it??

Thanks.

One of the great things about the Old Timer knives is their "usability" for everyday carry and 'knifish' chores. You got this knife for a good price. It isn't being made anymore, as you know, but they don't sell for big money either. Being a regular production knife made for quite a few years, they aren't rare, just uncommon on the primary market. Put this one up and buy a nice user to try (you'll pay for a used one about what you paid for this one) or use it like it was meant to be used. With proper care, it will likely outlast you.

Just my opinion

Hi omaha- In that condition I would say it is a $50.00 knife to a collector, so you did OK. If you have other knives to use, put it up for awhile as found. If you need a user, it's a good old American made knife that's made to use. I carry an 89OT every day. Someone will be along shortly with some history on it.

Does it have 1 or 2 blades?

i found this Knife in my stuff. It's new but no box. I carried it a little but never used it. Is this one worth anything?
