How do the tanto bladed sebenza compare to the regular Sebbies in terms of utility? I have seen some pics and it appears that some of you Sebenza-holics have them.

I have both the small and large sebenzas and find that the blade shape is just about perfect for everyday tasks. But I am really starting to take a long look to those tanto sebenzas...

Thanks

I have a small NICA Tanto. The part of the blade that slants to the tip is dull. They are made that way. The straight part is sharp as a razor. The tip is great for opening boxes and such and the straight edge slices well and if that meets your needs then great. Personally I prefer the woodies and the regular blade for utility purposes. I'm not totally sure why the slanted edge isn't sharp but it isn't by accident. I believe that it is to make the tip stronger for penetrating purposes. Hope this helps.

I carry both a large NICA and a BM710HSS. My NICA came razor sharp, both on the long edge of the knife and the tip. I am a woodworker, so the natural inclination for me is to use the NICA when I am doing a push cut thru a piece of wood or cleaning out a dado. It's almost like carrying a skew-cut chisel. I use it in the kitchen alot, too.
I'm saving up now for a large and small regular Sebenza--these critters grow on ya!
