Got a quick question on these. Were there 400 produced every year, or just 400 made total?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. Do you know by chance if they were all BG42?

I think that must be a wishful rumor, at best.

Tanto sebs used to show up on the for sale forums alot, now, well, they're rarer than hens teeth.

Barry,

That in fact is not a rumor. At one point I had "several" NICA Tantos in my collection. I still have a couple of the BG42 but at one point I had and S30V Large NICA Tanto. Anne confirmed that CRK produced a total of 14 in the large iteration with S30V blades.

Greg,

Thanks for clearing that up.

I knew I wasn't nuts. I think!

They sure did make them in left hand versions. I currently have a small left hand model. I had a large one with serrations but I traded it away. Definately not one of my smartest moves.

And don't forget that there is a new NICA Tanto version coming out this year, only 200 large planned so far, different graphic and grind from what I hear.

that is good news too James. I am looking for an older version and I will try and purchase a new one too. I am excited about both.

Taichook,

I don't have the S30V NICA anymore so I can't post the BOD certifcate confirming the availability of the S30V. At the time I purchased the knife from True North it was one of the last Large NICAs to be shipped. There were still a "substantial" number of the Small NICA Tantos available that were going to be shipped in S30V when the demand required production. I would suspect that there could be as many as 50 to 100 S30V Small NICAs floating around.

I have a large one made Jan,2002.
I know they made from 1999 to 2002, so I thought the s30v NICA sebenza is made jan,2002 later, isn't it?

Taichook,

I would have to check the database I have on my work computer, but I believe that my S30V NICA was made in December of 2001. You have to keep in mind that many of the components of the Sebenza are produced at different times and then assembled. The DOB certificate is created when the knife is "assembled" and inspected prior to shipment. Sorry I can't pin the dates of the S30V transitions down more but that is the nature of the beast ;) I have a number of the "flat ground" Sebenzas and the last one that I got ( an unsigned but confirmed legitimate blade ) was actually "created" outside the accepted time frame in the FAQs.

Sorry I can't help more.
