Glad you like your tanto. Awesome isn't it? I have often thought of comparing the CRK tanto with a an Emerson custom. I have a production CQC 7, left handed. This is my second one. The first one I bought, when I opened it, it took a screwdriver to close it so I sent it back and got a refund. After a few months I relented and got another. The one I have seems to operate well. The Emersons seem to be designed for one purpose, that being self defense and there is nothing wrong with that. I have a CQC 5 left hand on order from Emerson, I got my name in before Ernie announced his semi-retirement. I may get it in five years. My thinking and my observations by following both the Emerson section of Blade Forum and the Cris Reeve section of Blade Forum is that in the Emerson section, it is not difficult to find a thread where a customer has recieved a product that is not right (as in my experience with my first CQC 7). Even John Holister has described the quality of a custom CQC 6 as somewhat spotty. In the Chris Reeve section, you would be hard pressed to find a customer that is less than thrilled. Also material wise, the CQC 6 has a CPM 154 blade, micarta scales and is a liner lock. The CRK tanto has a BG-42 blade (superior in my opinion), titanium scales and a frame lock. It carries easier in my pocket than my CQC 7 and the double bevel of the CRK NICA tanto makes everyday chores a cinch. Lockup on the blade is like a vault and the thing is made like a tank. Granted the CRK can't claim to be "custom", but in my opinion it is a superior knife. Anyone out there care to put in their two cents about this matter?
