Hello everyone, I work as a welder and I use a standar work knife that use 18mm replacable blade.

So far the one the job give worked well for my need, until yesterday where I started a new job. I need to unwrap pallet every 5 minutes and the job will be recuring.

My curent knife is the one with a small wheel that lock/unlock the blade. While it's pretty good overall, it's slow to open and close and alway end up in the bottom of my pocket. No place for spare blade either.

So I started to wonder if there was "quality" metal one, one-hand operatable with a pocket clip and a place for a spare blade.

I saw a couple with a short blade, but since it's for work I have a hard time buying consumable myself.

Surely there must be a market for it right?

OLFAs are very good though I don't know if they come with a pocket clip. There's a larger model and a smaller one. Canadian Tire has quite a few different makes and models; I would think Home or any of the other big distributors would have a selection.

I had to google 18mm blades and I was surprised that is what you want for work. No tradesmen around here uses them. We all use knives that use the Stanley blade type. The guys at work all use Milwaukee flip open versions. They have no complaints which is why I recommended the Milwaukee knife to you.

I prefer my old school fixed blade Stanley knife but you need to have a sheath for it. Mine is a 199 like the top one in the picture, I’d like to find a 299 like the one pictured too

Believe me it's not by choice (well, kinda) it's just because that's the blade the shop supply us with. Personally, I would go with a milwaukee fast back.

I don't mind paying for better tool, but I'm not paying for consumable.

No standard "Stanley" type blades at work? Bummer. Because those tools I can help you with.

Anyway, I left a message on your profile.
