Hi Armand,

That is a very cool 422, gold etch blade & clear handle!

Nice one. I've never seen one of those. The design is well executed. When the knife is closed it looks like the canoe is in white water rapids. Well done. Wouldn't mind having one of those myself.

If anyone sees one of these up for sale and you don't want it yourself, please let me know. I have a friend I've gone canoeing with every so-often over the past 30+ years and this would make a great gift!

Note that this is actually a 112 blade; that blade in the 112 handle shows up fairly regularly for sale.

What an interesting knife.

You wouldn't expect a gold-etch blade with a synthetic handle.

Very unique.

A Aurum etched 4 dot ! What was it commerating ? Scene looked like early American trappers . That handle material looks like the salesman edition slabs . Thanks for posting Armand . DM

i seen that and was going to bid on it for bucksway
but he said the last min dont buy me any more that i have to pay for
so i did not bid..
good score!
i am sure it is a test blade that was put in that frame for a coworker

Hi Dave,

That blade is from a 112 issued in 1984. It was called "White Water Canoeing". There were 2500 knives in the issue, brass frame, black wood scales. These are on ebay all the time.

Some one put the LE blade in the clear bucklite handle, any of those with see through handles are uncommon. Now was this a lunch box knife, did some knife mangler do it, or was it a proto/sample knife?

Any way you look at this knife it's just a cool looking piece.

There is just no way to tell for sure if it was made in the factory or not....I can say that a clear handle BY ITS SELF is extremely rare and very collectible.Somebody thought thought it would go together well and made it.I personally have not seen that blade ever sold without a handle [you see a lot of 110 blades, prototype and overruns mostly ] or for that matter any 112 blade...I will say so many odd things were made and put together at Buck that it could be.Some of the odd stuff is remembered,Joe Houser is the man who might know for sure.Yep, it sure is cool and REALLY rare!

Thanks everyone, this knife is really cool for sure... The knife did come from a ex-Buck- employee... Thanks again jb4570(John)... This clear 422 will look good next to my other clear handle Bucklites... I just need a red and green one, well there could be other colors I don't know about... But I'm always looking for rare 412s, 414s, 424s, 422s, 426s prototypes, demos, saleman samples and so on... ITE ....

Armand, what I think is so cool is that you find them! I really look forward to your latest score but we really, really, need more details about the search and the deal!!! To me the 'story' is a big part of the fun in collecting anything. I just wish I had the time and resources to build up my 112 collection BUT every week I spend a 'Buck' on one Florida lotto ticket So Me, Larry Oden,Leroy, and Joe can pick out a few new ones for my display....334 will take care of E;bay for me.............

Clint, there is know real sorry on this one... Well just that JB4570 let me know about this one on ebay and I won it... I just had to have it for my bucklite collection... I called the seller and he told me that the guy was an ex-buck-employee... He has my number... I hope he calls me soon.... ITE

I buy a lotto ticket every week too... ;)

Since my heart problem I have been out of it a little..I have to say that IS overall the coolest 422 I have ever seen..The clear really makes it pop out! I think the reason Buck did not go with clear handles is that they would scratch so easy....It sure looks like it's a factory issue.Did you ask for a letter from the former employee ? It would be great if he would give you one..
