I am looking to have a light weight care kit to take a knife backpacking. Keeping it sharp, rust free, oiled and accessible. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we get wet here too. Any ideas?

I generally don't take any kind of care kit for my knife when out but a small leather strop and some sand paper is a good idea to keep it sharp. Rust I don't worry about to be honest. When I get some spotting I just rub it off with some old man's beard(usnea in particular) and/or horse tails. A small eyedropper of mineral oil could be used if you want though.

If you want a sharpening stone, the Fällkniven DC3 is small and effective.
