Hi all, my first post on this forum. My main interests lie in various Military items from all wars, but I've been picking fixed blad, pocket, and all sorts of other blades over the years as well. My research on GOOGLE always leads me to the posts here so I thought today that I may as well join after one of the coolest finds in my life. This TRU-BAL Throwing Knife is a very unique piece that was custom made by the company founder Harry K. McEvoy. I couldn't find an exact match to it so I contacted his son Steve as Harry passed some time back. Here is what he had to say -

Sean,
This knife is not a standard Battle Blade although it strongly resembles Battle Blade styling. I would classify it as a Battle Blade variant, non-standard, and possibly a "one of a kind". The sheath is also non-standard. Age is difficult to determine, but I would place it between 1968 and 1973. It was probably made as a personal carry knife by and for my father, later sold - or a Special Order combat knife for an active military purchaser. The Special Order is the most likely possibility as he did not write on the back of the sheath which he usually did for his personal carry knives. In either case, you have a very collectible Tru-Bal knife. If you want a "Certificate of Authenticity" I can provide one for a cost of $25.00. This authenticates the collector value of the knife. If desired, send me a check or money order for $25.00 along with your request and color photographs of the knife and sheath side by side, both sides. Also measure the knife from tip to tang for exact length. It appears to be over 13 inches in length. Place a one foot ruler below the knife for size reference. Nice find.

Wow! Nothing???????

It's pretty cool, but there is not a lot to say....throwing knives by nature are fairly utilitarian and unadorned.

You have a very interesting piece that is going to appeal to a very small amount of aficionados.

I purchase throwing knives in general to ....yunno....throw....the exception at this point being the Harald Moeller Viper II which I originally brought to throw, but now just appreciate as a beautiful design.

Thanks for chiming in Steven. I take it the guys on here are more into modern blades and collectible rarities don't mean a whole lot? I picked up a couple of WW2 British Commando Fairbarne Sykes knives a few months back along with a Camillus M3 Fighting knife. Much interest here for this kind of thing? If not I should probably find another forum.

Hey man,

In the Customs and Handmades s/f of BFC, those items would be out of place, but in General, or Traditionals, or even Bernard Levine's s/f here on BFC, there might be pages and pages of participation.

Think of BFC (BladeForums) as a house party, and the subforums (s/f) as rooms....maybe the people in one room are talking about houseplants or swords, but in another room, the conversations are right up your alley! Something for everyone here.

Best Regards,
