Yes, I have friends...

Marcelo, Kuruptd, and I invaded Riley's secret spot at Harriman State Park today. After a little hike up the A.T. we came to his spot and it was easy to see why he wanted to keep it a secret.

Sorry for the not so great pics, not the best light and my camera doesn't make up for it..

It's been awhile since we all hung out, so there wasn't allot of skills practice, but instead we ate, cracked jokes, and just enjoyed being out.

I promissed myself I would start to get more comfortable with my GB Small Forest axe. I can chop and split with it well enough, but I never did any detail work with it. So I decided to make a bow drill kit set up.

I really like this little axe. It was easy to handle and manipulate for carving. Drilling out the hand hold was a PIA, but I got it done. I think in time, I will grow very comfortable with it.

Anyway, it was great to hang out with the crew again. I look forward to this spring and summer for a few camp outs.

oops. I almost forgot the token blade forums knives stuck in a tree pic!

Good stuff Tony. Never tried making a bowdrill kit with an axe before. Neat that you were able to demonstrate doing that!

THanks T it was a bunch of fun for sure... I never handled a GB axe before.. It was very nice... Once I used it for about a minute I was like "ohhh That;s why people love them."

OK Tony, how much did you pay these guys? :D
Great pic's. Wish I has a life, and could have gone to.

Wish you could have been there bro.

By the way, good friends, a beautiful wife, and children equalls a helluva good life bro! You're doing allright:thumbup:

Cocaine of course, we had to dump it when DEP came around.

;)

That "ground" is Island Lake, apparently one of the deepest natural lakes in NY.

Still have snow there.. all of it is gone here now. Have gotten a ton of rain though, and a lot of really dull days lately.

Looks like you guys had a good time. :thumbup:

Alway love the pics of you guy's trips. I have to nominate Marcelo as GQ W&SS man, he's stylish, yet rugged :D

First thought that came to my mind, too, Gene.

Hey GS,

Just a little dirt on your camera lens - There, fixed it for you.

looks like a good time!!!! maybe ya'll can come down and hang out with Hollowdweller and I sometime!!!!

Nice shots Tony, it looks like you guys had fun. Still looks cold up there though. I should post pics from recent outings with Alayna and show the flowers, buds, and new green to show the contrast, lately I've been out in short sleeves mostly. Only thing is that our spring rains have started now and if I had to depend on friction fire it would indeed be a challenge as we have had days of rain and flooding. Everything other than fatwood around here is saturated right now.

His wife says he stands in front of the mirror trying on different clothes before he decides what will give him that look...

Thanks GP:thumbup::)

Can you clean up my lens on these?

I would love to man:thumbup: You all have some nice country down there and are good people:thumbup:

@Mist

The rains have been soaking everything over here as well. After a few attempts I got a tiny coal, but a strong gust of wind blew it all over the wet ground. After another failed attempt I decided that friction fire was not in cards for me today and joined the rest of the guys eating. :o

I find getting suitable material for a friction fire after a very heavy rain to be harder then getting it during rain...

Nice. Sometimes you gotta forget the skills and just chillax.:D Never tried anything bigger but if I had to pick one blade to take into the woods it would be my GB mini. Axes are so much fun.
